You’ve likely felt Tabitha Brown’s warmth and positivity, whether through her TikTok videos, books or shows like Tab Time and Very Good Mondays. Known as “America’s Mom,” Tabitha has a gift for making people feel seen and encouraged. But even she has faced challenges, including something many women experience: bladder leaks. Now, Tabitha is teaming up with Always Discreet to start an open, honest conversation about pelvic floor health, incontinence and helping women let go of any shame they feel.

Brown’s first experience with bladder leaks

For Tabitha, bladder leaks started after her son was born, a common experience for many women post-pregnancy. According to the University of Colorado Urogynecology, around four in 10 women experience bladder leaks during or after pregnancy. But years later, when Tabitha entered perimenopause, the leaks returned.

Brown initially turned to panty liners but found they didn’t offer enough protection. The leaks began to affect her daily life, making her self-conscious in public and impacting her clothing choices.

“It just kind of starts to control you a little bit,” she shared with Woman’s World, “because then you start making decisions not to go to certain things, or not wearing something that really makes you feel sexy or cute, because you know you’re trying to control this thing and hoping it doesn’t happen. And that kind of restricts your joy and restricts how you live.”

Using her platform to open the conversation

Earlier this year, Tabitha asked her followers a powerful question on social media: “What would you do if bladder leaks weren’t holding you back?” The response was overwhelming, with countless women sharing similar experiences.

“Reading the comments when I posted those videos and seeing how many people and the women who inboxed me, my feelings were so hurt. My heart was so heavy for them, because I know what it’s like not to live your life fully,” she shared.

For Brown, the response she got from her followers makes her partnership with Always Discreet all the more special. “I was like, okay, this is what it was all about, starting the conversation, getting women excited to have a conversation without embarrassment,” she explained. “I was like, this is why I did this partnership. Mission accomplished. The more we talk about it, the better.”

Finding freedom from bladder leak shame

Tabitha says her journey to self-acceptance began about seven years ago with what she calls her “freedom walk,” a personal mission to let go of others’ opinions.

“I really just got to a place where I stopped caring what other people thought. It does take a lot to get there, and it’s work every day. I work hard on myself every day on that, but I really feel like God just gifted me with this release, where he just took this weight off of me, where I stopped caring what others thought. And because of that, I feel like it’s my responsibility to talk about hard things that others can’t so that I can hopefully inspire other women to be more confident about things that embarrass them.”

Brown’s message to women everywhere

Tabitha’s message to her fellow women suffering from bladder leaks is simple but powerful: “We get one life,” she says.  “I don’t want to spend it on being scared or embarrassed about things that are normal.” With her new partnership with Always Discreet, she hopes to keep the conversation going and help more women live confidently, without shame.
