  • Fans say Oreana's pregnancy mirrors Beth Dutton's traumatic teenage experience.

Season 1 of the record-breaking Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch officially ended over the weekend, and fans have plenty of questions about what happened—and how it will impact Season 2. One thing they’re wondering about: Oreana Jackson’s (Natalie Alyn Lind) pregnancy, which many fans say mirrors Beth Dutton’s (Kelly Reilly) own journey. Below, we break down everything about the pregnancy, including how it could shape Season 2.

What you need to know about the ‘Dutton Ranch’ finale

In the Dutton Ranch Season 1 finale, Oreana learns she’s pregnant. She doesn’t confirm who the father is, but many fans suspect it could be Carter (Finn Little), given how intense their relationship has been all season. After finding out, Oreana comes face to face with Beth, Carter’s adopted mom, who asks Oreana where her son is. Oreana says she doesn’t know and Beth leaves.

Later, Oreana finds Carter, starts drinking—even though she’s pregnant—and tells him they should just run away together. Carter agrees, and they head home to pack up. But then Carter ends up getting kidnapped by Oreana’s grandmother, Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening), and Oreana finds her father, Rob-Will (Jai Courtney), dead in their living room.

“I was listening to sad music, trying to get myself set mentally. Because it is such a shocking sight for Oreana,” Lind told USA Today, about the finale. “I prepared upstairs in a little waiting room. I was already covered in blood for the scene.”

How Oreana’s journey mirrors Beth Dutton’s

When she was a teenager, Beth got pregnant and was taken to get an abortion by her brother Jamie (Wes Bentley). At the time, Beth was dating a young Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

The whole ordeal is deeply traumatic for Beth and ends up reshaping who she is. And now that Oreana is pregnant, fans think her journey could mirror Beth’s, since both are young and got pregnant by a young, handsome, troublemaking ranch worker.

“I love that Oreana and Carter both come from these broken families, and they have this trauma their entire life. It’s what has drawn them together and it feels very authentic,” Lind told USA Today. “I’m under the impression that Carter is the father, but you never really know with this girl.”

How Oreana’s pregnancy will impact Season 2

As of now, it’s unclear whether Oreana will keep the baby. Even so, Lind teased to USA Today that the experience will change Oreana in Season 2.

“Oreana’s life is going to change forever going into Season 2,” the actress said. “I know some stuff. For Season 2, there’s definitely a reason that Oreana behaves the way she does. We’ll find out some of that. People have known the Duttons for so long. But there’s so much story to tell from the Jacksons’ perspective.”

“The Jacksons are filled with all this resentment and hate and manipulation,” Lind continued. “From the show’s beginnings, Oreana has fought against her family’s bloodlines, trying to take a different path from the toxic cycle that has been in her family’s genes for generations.”

Season 1 of Dutton Ranch is available to stream now on Paramount+.
