Law & Order creator Dick Wolf is bringing you yet another thrilling crime drama from the FBI universe and the exciting trailer for the spinoff just dropped. If you love watching the beloved FBI agents protect the city every Monday night, you’re going to enjoy this one.

The new series, CIA, stars Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss as new and unlikely partners working together on a secret task force to prevent terrorism in New York City. See the trailer for the new series below!

The trailer quickly sets up that there will be tension between the new partners. In the first few seconds, Ellis’ character, CIA case officer Colin Glass, is asked whether he has ever told a lie and responds, “Are you serious? Wasn’t lying part of the job description of CIA?”

When does the series air?

CIA will premiere on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 10 PM, ET/PT. The hour-long show will follow the original FBI series, which airs at 9 PM ET/PT.

What is the new series about?

The official description for the series reads: “When by-the-book FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) is loaned out to a clandestine CIA/FBI task force, he finds himself teamed up with secretive and roguish CIA case officer Colin Glass (Tom Ellis). Together they will work covert operations in New York, uncovering international plots, terrorist cells and geopolitical secrets. On CIA, Bill will learn the rules of this murky world on the fly as Colin leads him deeper into spy games where only one thing is clear–their work keeps America safe, even if no one will ever know what they did in the shadows.”

Who will star in the series?

Alongside Gehlfuss and Ellis, the series will also feature Natalee Linez as CIA Analyst Gina Rojas, and there will be multiple guest appearances throughout the first season.

What the stars have said about ‘CIA’

Both Ellis and Gehlfuss have shared their thoughts on the upcoming series, from what they plan to achieve with the plot to why filming in New York City is essential. Ellis detailed his take on the show in an interview at CBS Fest.

What we’re looking to do is explore the notion of why these agencies don’t normally work together,” he said. “What we’re exploring on this show is what would happen if you teamed up this experienced field agent from the CIA with this guy from the FBI. And it becomes a very productive relationship but also a very difficult relationship because they have very different philosophies about how to achieve their goals.”

Gehlfuss was cast after Ellis, and he hasn’t spoken much about the show, but he did have some thoughts about filming in New York.

“That’s the authenticity of it, and you don’t have to fake anything,” Gehlfuss shared. “Shooting in New York City on the streets is just electric. This new group of people is fantastic as well, so [there is] a lot of potential here.”

Make sure to tune into the series premiere of CIA on Monday, February 23 at 10 PM, only on CBS, or the next day on Paramount+!
