Along her journey, Chelsea reconnects with Colin, a former flame she had a connection with in Ireland. However, their reunion doesn’t allow for things to go very far, for Colin has moved on with a wife of his own. The realization marked a turning point for Chelsea as she went further down the road in search of her past connections.
Later in the series, Lacey’s character of Chelsea links up with her Parisian love, Sebastian, though their reconnection proves to be less-than-ideal. What appears to be the date of all dates is eventually revealed to be disingenuous, for Sebastian, a photographer, only wishes for Chelsea to sign away the rights to a portrait he had taken of her many years ago. Though an unfortunate turn of events, the whip-smart Chelsea uses the situation to her advantage, and things going sour with Sebastian ultimately opens up the door for a special moment with Knightly, the season continuing with an episode that reveals the connection they’ve built.
In the first season, Chelsea also links up with Marcos, a man she fell for in Spain who proves to be her most fruitful reconnection. As the two reflect on their past, he offers her an opportunity for her future running his father’s multi-million dollar nonprofit, and though the feelings she had for him in the past were real, Chelsea ultimately realizes her heart lies with Jason, the man who has guided her throughout the entirety of this unexpected journey. Introduced as a limited series based on a standalone book, signs pointed toward this hit show consisting of a solo season—but Lacey Chabert and Scott Michael Foster gave fans a glimpse of hope in a recent chat with Just Jared, both expressing they’d be completely open to continuing the show with a second season.
“One of my favorite things is to see how a story continues and oftentimes these stories end with the characters finally in love and I always want to see them in the relationship, so if that were ever a chance, I think there are a lot of stories in this that people will want to see continue,” shared Lacey Chabert.
Scott Michael Foster shared a similar sentiment, saying, “I love everyone involved. Lacey, Rebecca, Julien, Barbara, Henry, everybody involved, super talented lovely people. And at this point, I just want to work with people I know and like. And also the story is great. I love Hallmark. They make such a good feeling on set.”
