McDonald’s $5 Meal Is Back—‘We’re Here for Our Customers,’ CEO Says
The McDonald’s Extra Value Menu is back—here’s what you’ll pay and what’s included
Remember the days when you could buy a whole meal at McDonald’s for about $3? Us too! These days, fast food costs a lot more than that, but thanks to a few fan-favorite establishments rolling out generous value menus, making a quick stop for something an indulgent treat has become a whole lot more affordable. And McDonald’s recently announced that they would be expanding their value menu, tapping back into their extremely popular Extra Value Meal deals, which they stopped offering back in 2019. Now, as the company aims to appeal to the thrifty consumer, providing options that won’t break the bank is of the utmost importance. Here, a look at what you might find on the Extra Value Menu, how much you can expect to spend and what the fast-food giant has said about it.
McDonald’s Extra Value Meal deals
The McDonald’s Value Menu is already chock full of money-saving deals. Currently, you can get your hands on bundles with slashed prices including the McChicken Meal Deal, the McDouble Meal Deal and the Daily Double Meal Deal. There’s also a breakfast meal deal, which allows you to purchase a Sausage Biscuit, Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Burrito or a hash brown and add on an additional item within that list for only $1 more. During lunch and dinner, a similar deal is running with your choice of a Double Cheeseburger, a McChicken, 6-Piece Chicken McNuggets or a small fry, with the option to add on another item from this list for $1. Prices vary from location.

Now, McDonald’s is expanding the savings even further with a few new limited time deals kicking off on September 8. For $5, customers can get their hands on a Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal that includes hash browns and a small coffee. During lunch and dinner hours, an $8 meal becomes available. For this price, you can get yourself a Big Mac meal that includes a medium drink and medium order of fries. In addition to these new menu deals, the fast food favorite is offering additional Extra Value Meal discounts of up to 15% off certain items paired with certain sides and drinks.
Why is McDonald’s expanding their McValue menu?
During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski discussed the importance of reengaging low- and middle-income customers who aren’t already taking advantage of McDonald’s deals. “McDonald’s USA is laser-focused on delivering value and affordability for our customers, and I’m incredibly proud of how our franchisees and teams continue to step up to make it a reality,” said Joe Erlinger, McDonald’s USA President, in a statement. He continued, “From the $5 Meal Deal to McValue and now Extra Value Meals, we’re sending a clear message: we’re here for our customers. McDonald’s will always be a place where you can get the food you love at a price that fits your life.” Starting September 8, head to your local McDonald’s and snag one of these limited-time deals!
