And that’s why this baked French toast recipe really shines. It’s not your usual French toast, but a luscious layered, savory and sweet delight, topped with homemade strawberry cream cheese and finished with tons of fresh berries.
Best of all, this baked French toast recipe takes just 20 minutes of easy prep. Then simply pop it in the oven until the toast is golden brown and the strawberry cream cheesy is all melty and creamy. Ingredients
- 5 cups strawberries
- 6 oz. cream cheese, at room temp.
- 2 Tbs. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 2½ cups milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 (12 oz.) baguette, cut into 1⁄4"-thick round slices
- Sliced fresh mint (optional)
Instructions
PrintHeat oven to 375°F. Line 13"x9" baking dish with parchment paper. Trim 1 cup strawberries; quarter. Trim and slice remaining berries; reserve. Transfer quartered berries to food processor; process until smooth. In bowl, mix cream cheese, 1 Tbs. sugar and strawberry mixture.
In large bowl, whisk eggs, milk and vanilla extract; add bread. Toss until evenly coated. Transfer half of bread to baking dish. Dollop with cream cheese mixture. Top with remaining bread and any remaining egg mixture. Sprinkle with remaining 1 Tbs sugar. Bake, uncovered, until set in center and browned on top, 25 min. Top with reserved berries and, if desired, mint.
