We used kamut in these spiced-right treats — the ancient grain has a buttery, nutty flavor that’s slightly sweet. (Click through to learn about the health benefits of kamut.)

Serving Size:

6

Active Time:

5 min.

Total Time:

30 min.

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbs. butter
  • 1 cup rolled Kamut (Khorasan wheat)
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • ¼ cup Kamut flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 6 ripe Barrlett pears (about 3 lbs.), peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup salted caramel sauce, such as Smucker’s
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. In microwave-safe bowl, melt 4 Tbs. butter; stir in next 5 ingredients until clumps form. Transfer to greased baking sheet. Bake 20 min., stirring once.
  2. Meanwhile, in skillet over medium-high heat, cook pears in remaining 1 Tbs. butter 10 min. or until tender, stirring often. Add caramel, 2 Tbs. lemon juice and 1 tsp. lemon zest. Cook 2 min., stirring.
  3. Divide pear mixture among six 6 oz. ramekins; top with crumb mixture. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
