Rib Eye Steaks with Seasoned Butter Recipe Is Downright Delicious — Preps in Just 20 Minutes

What could be better on a Friday night (or any night!) than some smoky steaks hot off the grill? How about topping them with a delicious compound butter? That’s just what we did in our Rib Eye Steak with Seasoned Butter Recipe, and it does not disappoint. Plus, it’s easy to do. Start by making the seasoned butter, which is essentially softened butter flavored with spicy brown mustard, garlic, lemon juice and lemon zest. Dolloped over the grilled meat, the butter adds tons of rich flavor!
And to ensure the steaks grill up tender, season them at least two hours before cooking. Then take them out of the fridge and let them sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cooking — this helps you achieve an even doneness throughout the meat when grilling it. Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter, at room temp.
- 2 tsp. spicy brown mustard
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. grated lemon zest
- 2 bone-in rib eye steaks, about 1 lb. each
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Instructions
PrintMake Butter: In small bowl, stir together butter, mustard, garlic, lemon juice and lemon zest; cover and chill until ready to serve. Alternately, spoon butter down center of sheet of plastic wrap; roll into log, sealing edges tightly (butter can be made up to three days ahead and stored in the refrigerator until ready to use). Sprinkle steaks all over with salt and pepper; let stand at room temp. 30 min.
Meanwhile, prepare grill for medium-high direct-heat cooking. Grill steaks, flipping once, about 5 min. per side for medium-rare or until desired doneness. Transfer to platter; let rest at least 5 min. Serve steaks topped with dollops of butter.
