At my house, fondue is a New Year’s Eve tradition. I always make a big batch to snack on while we wait for the ball to drop. But it’s so simple to whip up, you don’t have to save it for special occasions. Take this Double-Cheese Fondue and Dippers recipe. It comes together with just a handful of ingredients. Best of all, it’s ready to eat in only 20 minutes.

We coat the cheese in mustard powder and flour. The spice gives it a zingy kick while the flour helps thicken the mixture to the perfect consistency. To keep the fondue smooth and creamy, instead of adding chopped garlic, we rube the inside of the pot with a crushed clove. That way you get all that garlicky goodness without a lumpy texture. Ingredients

  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup fontina cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tbs. all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp. mustard powder
  • ½ clove garlic, smashed
  • ¾ cup dry white wine
  • Bread and assorted veggies, for dipping

In bowl, toss cheeses with flour and mustard. Rub medium pot with garlic; discard. Add wine.

Over medium heat, bring wine to a simmer. Add cheese mixture; cook, stirring often, until melted; transfer to fondue pot. Serve with veggies or bread for dipping.
