Trader Joe’s Halloween-Themed Mini Totes Available for Spooky Season: How to Score the Viral Obsession

The viral obsession that began in March 2024 is making a spooky comeback, and we promise: You won’t want to miss it. Last year, when Trader Joe’s releases their mini totes, it sparked a national craze with the bags selling out immediately and fans reselling them for insane prices on websites like eBay.
People shared videos to TikTok to show how outrageous the obsession became, with customers waiting in lines wrapped around the building only for the items to sell out in minutes! The frenzied buying behavior could only be compared to the early days of Black Friday shopping.
Now, everyone’s favorite grocery store is releasing a Halloween version of the mini totes and we’re expecting them to be just as popular!

What do the mini totes look like?
Previous Trader Joe’s mini totes came in pretty pastels for spring (pink, blue, green and purple) and in bold navy, yellow, red and green a year prior, the new offerings are a bit darker (and spookier). The totes, which have yet to go on sale, were created with a Halloween theme, so they are the perfect little treat for October.
The new totes will be available in four color options: solid black, solid purple, solid orange and a multicolor option with black, orange, green and purple. The 13 x 11 x 6-inch totes are 65% cotton and 35% polyester, perfect to carry a heavy-duty grocery haul (just a few less items as usual) for the same price of $2.99.
“The size is ideal for smaller shopping trips, to pick up those few items you forgot the first time around,” Trader Joe’s writes of the original bag on the store’s website. “It’ll fit a dozen of your favorite TJ’s apples, or you can fill your Mini Tote with TJ’s snacks & sweets to keep you munching on your next road trip.”
When will the mini totes be released?
Good news: You won’t have to wait very long to get your hands on one of these adorable Halloween-themed totes. The already viral product will be going on sale on Wednesday, October 8, so make sure you get a spot in line at your local Trader Joe’s.
“If customers have any questions about product availability, they can ask any Crew Member in their neighborhood store,” Trader Joe’s shared.
Because of the chaos that ensued during the release of the mini totes, Trader Joe’s previously placed a purchasing limit on the products so that everyone could have a fair chance at getting the bags. While they haven’t shared that a purchasing limit will be put in place, it is a distinct possibility.
