It doesn’t take much for a seasonal find to go viral, especially if it’s something different from what’s usually on store shelves. That’s been the case with a Home Depot bucket that has caught attention simply due to its autumn spin. Now that it’s been all over social media, people can’t wait to get their hands on one before they sell out. Keep reading to learn more about the highly coveted Home Depot mini bucket for Halloween, plus fun alternatives you can buy elsewhere.

What is the Home Depot mini Halloween bucket?

The home-improvement-store has given their classic paint and utility bucket a spooky twist thanks to a printed design.

The 2-gallon bucket maintains its bright orange appearance and Home Depot logo, but it also comes covered in black spiders, ghosts, spider webs, bats and Jack-O’-lanterns. The limited-edition find has quickly gone viral, with Americans across the country heading to their local Home Depot store to try and snag one for themselves.

What shoppers are saying about the viral Halloween bucket

Like many other popular finds, people have taken to social media to document their hunt for the Home Depot mini bucket. One TikTok user shared in early September how she got a few of the buckets (at $2 each) and was excited about their potential. “Do you know how much candy these are going to hold?” she said in the video. “That’s a win.”

Even Home Depot has joined in the fun, as the company posted a video to TikTok with the caption, “How it feels finding the Home Depot Halloween bucket.”

Other shoppers haven’t fared so well. There are several videos posted on YouTube, Tiktok and other platforms where people attempt to track down the mini bucket–and come up short.

Where to buy the Home Depot mini Halloween bucket

If you want to get your hands on one of the buckets for trick-or-treating or for decorating your home, you’ll have to head to the store in person. When scouring the Home Depot website, the find does not come up in the search results.

However, you may not be able to get your hands on one just yet depending on your location. In another TikTok video, a woman says she found a pallet of the Halloween buckets on the top shelf with a notice that says the merchandise is not allowed to be displayed until September 28, 2025. (Note: The video was posted a week ago, so it’s possible the company has changed its mind about waiting. There may also be a second wave of buckets that will be available for purchase closer to Halloween.)

You can also buy one of the mini buckets through online marketplaces such as eBay, but they are being sold for triple the cost of their in-store price tag.

Even if you can’t find the Home Depot bucket or are not a fan of the design, there are other similar options you can pick up elsewhere. Here are some great and equally festive alternatives:

Target

As part of its Hyde and EEK! Boutique line, the retail chain is selling a 7.64” orange plastic trick-or-treat pail with a vintage-inspired Jack O’Lantern printed on it and it’s roughly the same size as the Home Depot bucket. They’re currently available for $3 each.

Walmart

For less than $2, you can get an orange trick-or-treat bucket that features a fun Haunted House design. It’s a bit smaller than the Home Depot bucket, with a 5-quart capacity and a sturdy handle.

Spiders are the star of this treat bucket, which costs only $1. The orange pail is covered in little black spiders that border on cute, and tiny little black webs.
