Pinkween Is Taking Over Halloween—Here Are Our Favorite Pastel Decor Finds for under $15
From pink pumpkins to pastel ghosts, here’s how to celebrate Halloween with a whimsical twist
Drive around any neighborhood in the fall and you’ll see countless homes turned into haunted houses. But not everyone is interested in decking out their residence with fake spider webs, zombies and gory displays. Some prefer a more lighthearted, stylish approach to seasonal decor, ditching the traditional color palette in favor of everything pink. The trend, called Pinkween, has been gaining popularity over the last couple of years and has spurred unique seasonal merchandise. Keep reading to learn more about Pinkween and to discover cute decor pieces you can score for less.
What is Pinkween?
In 2023, there was a noticeable difference Halloween decorations hitting the shelves of retail stores. While there were still plenty of items in traditional colors like orange, black and purple, a new hue was catching the eyes of shoppers: pink.
Since then, the trend has only grown, leading to what’s now known as Pinkween. Shoppers can find everything from ghosts to Jack-O’Lanterns in various pink hues and other pastel colors. It’s a stark contrast to the dark aesthetic of typical Halloween decor.
“While the traditional colors are always a fan favorite, there are plenty of people who also like the pastel (pink, purple, etc.) colors as well,” Instagram poster @InTheWorkplace told USA Today last year. “For me, personally, I love the mix of both. The pastel colors give more of a whimsical vibe, which I think some people have been loving.”
Why Pinkween is trending on social media
Though not everyone has jumped on board, there’s been no shortage of social media posts from those who love all things Pinkween. In a recent TikTok video, @mandacreatespretty showed how her kitchen has already been decked out.
“Pinkoween has officially taken over the kitchen!” she shared in the caption. “Fall and Halloween (aka falloween) decor is meant to be pink cause pairing it with orange is everything.”
Another TikTok video from August features a haul of Pinkween goodies, from mugs to a pink pumpkin garland. The caption reads “Spooky but make it pink. Turning fall + Halloween into full on girly vibes.”
