Overcoming Limiting Beliefs: Liz Hunter’s Journey to Self-Discovery

Embracing one’s true self in today’s world is challenging. Between societal expectations and the fast-paced nature of modern life, losing a profound sense of connection between the mind, soul, and body is virtually inevitable. To help adults reconnect with their authentic selves and reclaim their joy, Elizabeth Hunter created Liz Hunter Coaching.

As an open-minded life coach dedicated to shattering taboos, Liz taps into her personal experiences, leveraging the challenges she overcame to help others grow and find their true path. Liz’s story, exhibiting the ‘weird outsider kid to a catalyst of empowerment’ arc, illustrates the power of channeling one’s inner desires and stepping above the confines of societal expectations.

Since her teenage years, Liz often initiated uncomfortable yet necessary conversations about self-discovery, relationships, and personal growth. The tendency to offer advice and listen to other people inspired her to pursue a path in psychology. Though Liz shifted her career to Communications studies, her Psychology course introduced her to classes that ultimately helped shape her life.

“I have always been compelled by how mysterious human connection is. It’s fascinating how something can be so taboo and scandalous, but at the same time, we all share these experiences,” she adds.

When Liz masked a failed toxic relationship with a new one, she realized that reconnecting with her true self and desires is vital to forging new, authentic connections. Turning the sadness of two breakups into newfound motivation for self-discovery, she explored the sheer joy of personal growth and self-exploration.

“I realized I had no idea what I truly wanted,” she shares. “I didn’t know what my mind and body desired, and I know so many people of all ages and genders struggle with the same issue.”

Determined to rewrite the narrative of self-fulfillment, Liz continued having freeing conversations, empowering all friends and strangers she advised. Back then, during her final year of Communication studies, she didn’t realize what she had already been doing daily could turn into a job. The pivotal moment came when Liz, doing research for her thesis, saw a life coaching ad on Instagram, immediately spellbound by the possibility of turning her hobby into her life’s work.

In 2021, Liz did exactly that, establishing Liz Hunter Coaching. Central to her ethos is the belief that reclaiming joy and neglecting the shame of one’s desires is the only way to find a truly fulfilling life. Liz offers tailor-made coaching programs designed to help all people reconnect to authentic human behavior, which is playful, compassionate, and true to oneself.

Initially, her coaching was aimed at women who struggled with self-love and fulfillment. Currently, Liz is shifting the focus toward all individuals, striving to enrich personal freedom by helping people connect to their childlike playfulness and authenticity.

To offer everyone a chance to embrace their playfulness, Liz hosts transformative workshops dedicated to teaching physical communication. As she emphasizes, by tapping into communication methods that transcend verbalization, adults have a chance to learn the art of setting boundaries and conveying desires with nothing but body movements. “We all used to playfight with siblings, cousins, and friends. Why not bring it back?” muses Liz. “Playful fights are so much more than fun; they’re an accessible way to learn how to communicate and listen to the signs our bodies send.”

Looking into the future, Liz is hoping to offer more workshops that reinforce the presence of playfulness in everyone’s lives and share her sacred gift of openness with more people. From overcoming the challenges of growing up as an outsider to becoming the central force of personal empowerment, Liz’s story is a testament to the power of reconnecting with our authentic human self.
