Baby Sofia Spends Some Quality Time With ‘Papa’—See the Rare Photo With Grandpa Ladd Drummond!

When Ree Drummond’s daughter Alex welcomed her little girl, Sofia, it’s safe to say that their family was changed for the better. Alex and Mauricio’s baby, now six months old, has been stealing hearts since the moment she came into this world, and between her mom, dad, grandma and aunts and uncles, we can always count on catching a glimpse of the adorable tot on our feed. While the Pioneer Woman herself is always sure to share her doting on her darling grandbaby on social media, it’s more rare to catch a glimpse of this cutie alongside her grandpa, Ladd, affectionately referred to as “Papa.” Ladd and Ree married in 1996 and have grown their brood quite a bit since those days. Now, thanks to a photo shared by Alex on Instagram, fans of the Drummond fam got an adorable glimpse at the softer side of the rugged cowboy.
An adorable grandpa-daughter moment captured
On her Instagram story, Alex Drummond showed a photo of Sofia lying comfortably on a bed wearing an adorable blue floral onesie with a pink binky in her hand. Looking down lovingly at the little bundle of joy was her grandfather, with nothing but affection and admiration in his eyes for the sweet girl his daughter brought into the world. “Papa,” Alex wrote as the caption over the photo with a light blue heart emoji. Though Ladd is the silent and stoic type, known by most as a rugged cowboy of few words who works hard and cares deeply for his family, Ree has pulled the curtain back on what it’s been like for her and her husband since becoming grandparents, and recently, it’s caused her to reflect on what it was like starting their own family together.
This past Father’s Day, Ree shared a photo of Ladd holding their daughter, Alex, shortly after she was born back in 1997. “Feels like forever ago and feels like yesterday,” she wrote in the caption. “I love this photo. When I see it I stop and stare and feel those 1997 feelings. Neither of us knew what we were doing. But Ladd didn’t have sisters, so these were uncharted waters for him especially. But Alex made it easy for him to fall in love with fatherhood, and Paige after that. When the boys came along, they were just the icing on the cake. Happy Father’s Day, Ladd. We love you a lot,” she said in a touching tribute.

In addition to some quality time spent with Papa, Baby Sofia enjoyed some family time with her grandma as well. In an adorable photo shared to Instagram of Ree holding Sofia, the Pioneer Woman celebrated getting to spend some time with her granddaughter. “My little firecracker is here. (I think she had red hair, do you???),” she asked in the caption.
Additionally, Alex shared a few adorable snapshots from their weekend of celebrating the Fourth of July, and we couldn’t help but notice their sweet matching mother-daughter sundresses! In the photos, Sofia, Alex, her husband Mauricio, their adorable pup Georgie, and countless friends celebrated the holiday together, with many of the pictures taken at the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. We love seeing this adorable family spend some quality time with each other!
