Alex Drummond Welcomes Baby Girl Sofia Marie: ‘Just in Time for Christmas’—See the Sweet Photos!

Santa came early for the Drummond family this year because Alex Drummond and her husband, Mauricio Scott, announced via Instagram that their baby girl, Sofia Marie, has officially entered the world!
“She’s here,” Alex, age 27, wrote. “December 18 2024. At 2:27 a.m., our perfect girl made her arrival a couple weeks early, just in time for Christmas! We are so in love and forever changed. Thank you, Lord.”
They also shared some super sweet photos of them with their baby, including a super sweet one of Scott looking down lovingly at his daughter, which you can see below!
Ree Drummond’s joyful reaction
Alex’s mother, Ree—a.k.a. The Pioneer Woman—was also there for the joyous occasion, posting a super sweet picture with her new granddaughter and captioning it, “Our first baby had her first baby. Thank you, Lord, we will never be the same.”
Ree also posted detailing the day writing to her website, “She [Sofia] is perfect. I’m saying that with as much objectivity as I can. But I’m not kidding…she is perfect. Like, if you looked up ‘perfect’ in Merriam-Webster [dictionary], it would reference Sofia Scott and maybe even show a photo of her.”
“Alex did great, and so did Mauricio. We [Ree and her husband Ladd] arrived in Dallas and got to see them in the hospital just as Alex was transitioning from latent to active labor, and it was so wonderful to see how much they love and support each other. Mauricio attended to Alex’s every need, to the point that the rest of us questioned if we even needed to be there.
“What a gift to Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates his love through such clear action.”
This is Ree and Ladd’s first grandkid, not including her seven ranch dogs.
A look back at Alex’s pregnancy journey
Alex and Scott announced their pregnancy via Instagram in June, with the caption reading, “We can’t wait to meet you, little one. Baby Scott joining the party this winter! Thank you, Lord, for this precious gift.” The couple had been married for three years at that point.
Then, in late June, the couple announced that they would be having a girl. From there, the couple continued to offer little updates here and there, but the biggest one came in November when they shared with the world the super sweet name they had picked out for their daughter.
After sharing pictures of their nursery, people were quick to notice that there was a giant pillow with the name Sofia on it. Naturally, they went crazy wondering if that was the baby’s name and, if it was, why did they choose it. Alex then took to an Instagram Q+A to share that yes, that was her name, and no, it wasn’t a family name.
“Honestly, there isn’t really much context or background. Long story short, we just loved the name,” she said. “We wanted to pick a name that sounded beautiful in English and Spanish, and so we went with Sofia with an ‘f.'”
“We love Sofia Scott, too; we love the double ‘S,.”
The mother-to-be also explained that Sofia’s middle name, Marie, was in fact a family name, saying, “Marie is obviously my middle name and my mom’s middle name, so we carried that over.”
Overcoming pregnancy challenges
Alex’s pregnancy wasn’t without its complications, though. At the beginning of December, she once again took to Instagram to detail how scary this giving birth would be for her.
“Today we have an appointment with maternal-fetal medicine—which, because of my white coat blood pressure hypertension stuff, my pregnancy is, like, high risk,” she detailed in an Instagram story. “So I go to appointments with both my OB and maternal-fetal medicine, which is like, I guess, just a place to get extra scans, extra monitoring done for high-risk pregnancies.”
Thankfully, though, everything turned out okay, and Sofia Marie Scott entered the world safely and soundly.
