Alex Drummond’s Pup George Steals the Show During Baby Sofia’s Storytime—And More Adorable Moments
George doesn’t hesitate to let everyone know he’s the first baby
Before baby Sofia came into the picture, Alex Drummond and her husband Mauricio Scott had George, and they consider the fluffy Golden Retriever their first child! The pup has happily welcomed the family’s newest addition since she arrived in late December, but he still likes to be the center of attention whenever possible. His latest move? Stealing the show during Sofia’s storytime! Keep reading for some of our favorite moments Alex has shared of George in big-brother mode.
Alex Drummond’s dog George interrupts baby Sofia’s storytime
In a new post on her mom Ree Drummond’s The Pioneer Woman blog, you can see adorable videos Alex recently shared on Instagram. In the clip, Mauricio is showing a happy, bouncing Sofia a colorful picture book meant for tummy-time and improvising a story to go along with it.
Alex then hilariously zooms in on George doing as he often does and carefully watching the dad-and-baby bonding moment. He starts watching from the outside in through the glass door, but before long he’s inside and right in the center of the action. He takes the book from Mauricio, who seems simultaneously surprised and impressed, and begins lapping around the couch looking as proud as ever.
“George has hijacked story time,” Alex captioned the clip.
George and Sofia have become fast friends
This is just the latest in a long line of cute moments between George and Sofia that Alex has documented. In fact, George was involved in Alex and Mauricio’s pregnancy announcement, where he sported a “big brother” bandana.
This isn’t the first time George has reminded his family that he’s the first baby, though. On her Instagram stories (where she has an entire highlight section dedicated to George and the moments mentioned below), Alex has chronicled the silly boy making a statement by stealing Sofia’s toys and even her pacifier!

George’s first time meeting Sofia happened before she even made her grand entrance! Alex was savoring the sweet early moments where George was resting his chin softly on her belly. She even added the perfect background music to her post with Chris Stapleton’s “Joy of My Life.”

In another story, Alex caught the pup investigating the items in Sofia’s nursery while Mauricio was getting the room ready for her debut. The baby swing chair in particular caught George’s interest as he watched it in action—with his pink tongue poking out as a sign of his extreme focus, of course.
First meetings
George was extremely careful and calm when it came to getting to know Sofia once she came home. From lying in bed with Alex and Mauricio while Sofia rested on her dad’s chest to getting a closer sniff of Sofia as she napped on the couch and watching her sleep peacefully, George loves being near this bundle of joy.
