Ree Drummond is taking her grandma duties seriously. Recently, the Pioneer Woman was in Dallas to spend time with and babysit her new favorite person and granddaughter, Sofia Marie. While there, Drummond also cared for George, her daughter, Alex Drummond and son-in-law Mauricio Scott’s (adorable) golden retriever. And she and George had a little fun by bringing a viral social media trend to life. Ree Drummond’s viral take on the ‘cheese tax’ social media trend
The Pioneer woman isn’t afraid to have fun with her granddaughter and grandpup, George. On January 12, she was down in Dallas babysitting and decided to film a silly moment with George.
The video starts with her slowly opening the refrigerator doors and honing in on the cheese drawer. From there, Drummond immediately grabs a slice of cheese, closes the fridge door and pans the camera to her left, where viewers can see George sitting patiently.
Drummond slowly offers George the cheese, which he accepts quite gently. The kicker is not that she gave him a treat but that the now viral “Cheese Tax” song plays for the duration of the video. Many other people on Instagram or TikTok have also used the sound when giving their four-legged furry friends cheese.
Fans react to The Pioneer Woman’s viral video
Drummond posted the video to her Instagram with the caption, “Babysitting Sofia (and George). There may be no cheese left in the morn.” Since then, it has received over 43 thousand likes and hundreds of comments.
Alex Drummond commented on the post asking, “How many cheese taxes have you paid tonight?” She also shared the video to her Instagram story and said, “George fully thinks that Grandma keeps coming to town to visit him.”
The comments outpour love and support for Drummond’s grandma tactics. “No rules exist when Grandma and Grandpa are here,” one person wrote.
Another person joked, “Gotta spoil both the grandpup and grand baby!” Many encouraged the “cheese tax” behavior and someone else said, “This is the absolute best! What a gorgeous fur baby!”
Users couldn’t get over how cute George is and loved that Ree spent so much time with him and Sofia.
Alex and Mauricio share Sofia’s first snow day before Ree’s visit
Parents, Alex and Mauricio are also creating new memories with Sofia. The day before Ree arrived, they decided to take a walk outside so Sofia could witness her first snowfall.
“Sofia’s first snow day! (Our walk lasted approximately 3 mins but at least we got these pics),” Drummond shared in an Instagram post.
The post features a series of photos where Sofia is bundled up in a cozy white sweater and matching hat, with light pink mittens and pants. Some of the photos were of her in the stroller with Mauricio and George a few feet ahead of mom and baby.
Ree Drummond shares adorable family moments with Baby Sofia
Ever since Sofia’s birth on December 18, her family has been sharing photos all over social media. Alex and Mauricio have shared a mix of photos and reels documenting the memories of their sweet baby girl.
As a grandma, Ree has also posted a fair amount of Sofia content. She posted some of her favorites in a recent blog post, and is likely to share more as Sofia nears her one-month-old milestone.
