Ree Drummond Is Officially a Grandma: See Recent Photos of Baby Sofia Marie!
Ree’s daughter Paige and future son-in-law David also got to meet Sofia Marie
Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond is soaking up her role as a grandmother. Ree’s eldest daughter, Alex Drummond, officially gave birth to her first child with husband Mauricio Scott, Sofia Marie, on December 18, 2024, and the Pioneer Woman can’t help but proclaim her excitement about the new baby. Ten days after Sofia was born, Ree took to her blog to share sweet photos and captions from Sofia’s first couple weeks. Ree Drummond’s sweet post about her granddaughter
On December 28, 2024, the Pioneer Woman posted photos on her blog, giving fans a glimpse into Sofia Marie’s birth. From the post, Sofia already brings so much love and joy to her family.
“My sweet little pookie head granddaughter Sofia was born ten days ago, so I thought it would be the perfect time to show you some of my favorite snapshots of the first week-and-a-half of her life,” Ree wrote. “I got to stay in Dallas just long enough to fall hopelessly in love with her, and I would be lying if I said I haven’t checked Zillow for houses not only on Alex and Mauricio’s street but also on their block and actually right across the street from their house.”
Ree compared shopping for homes in Dallas to shopping for homes in Vail, Colorado, after vacation because she doesn’t want the “vacation feeling to end.” However, she notes it’s a bit different with Sofia Marie: “I don’t want my time with Sofia ever to end, and though neither ‘second home’ scenario is very likely at all, a girl (and a grandmother) can sure dream.”
At the time of the post, there were already many photos of Sofia, but Grandma Ree picked a few favorites to share right off the bat.

The first photo the Pioneer Woman shared was posted on her Instagram when Sofia was born. It shows Ree holding Sofia, with Ladd looking over her shoulder in awe of his new grandchild. When Alex informed them she would deliver within a day or two, Ree and Ladd headed to Dallas. Drummond’s other daughter, Paige, arrived separately from her parents with her fiancé, David.
Drummond’s next image included a solo moment between her and baby Sofia, noting that “once you’ve had/held/raised babies, you never forget a thing.” With her children all grown up, Drummond admitted it had been a while since she’d consistently held a baby. “While the uncles and sisters and grandfathers were gingerly passing Sofia to one another, I’d grab her with all the confidence of a grandmother lioness, knowing exactly what to do,” she wrote in the post.
Sofia returned home shortly after her birth, and since she was born a couple of weeks early, she was especially tiny. Drummond included a sweet snap of her snoozing and said that right now, she’s a “beautiful blend of mom and dad.”
Paige and David also had time with Sofia Marie
Paige and David also trekked to Dallas to celebrate their new niece. Drummond captured David holding Sofia, and his pure joy is unmatched. She also poked some fun at him and wrote, “As is the case with most young men in their twenties, he hasn’t had a whole lot of baby experience, so it was fun to watch him jump right in and enjoy his niece (or soon-to-be niece if we’re being technical).”
Family time and new baby moments
Sofia isn’t the only one snoozing. Paige also had fun with the camera and caught her mom curled up next to Sofia a couple of days after bringing her home. Drummond said it felt funny to feel tired after Alex and Mauricio had done all the heavy lifting as brand-new parents, but she and the baby were conked out by 7 p.m.
After Drummond had returned home, Alex sent photo updates to her mom, which included a sweet moment between Mauricio and his daughter. She already noticed that Mauricio is a “sweet, attentive dad,” and he’ll share the responsibilities with Alex. “I love that this photo shows that dads can also revel in the sweetness and the baby smells, and the tender middle-of-the-night moments,” wrote Drummond.
The last photo Drummond posted of Sofia was another one Alex sent her. In it, she’s wrapped up in a pink blanket, awake, and smiling slightly. Drummond responded immediately, “OMGGGGGGG I can not handle this any longer. Moving to Dallas now.”

There’s no such thing as too many photos, especially as a new Grandma. Drummond posted a video of Sofia Marie on January 1 next to the Christmas Tree with the caption, “Home is where Sofia is. I need a vehicle with better gas mileage. (PS she loves the twinkly lights.)”
The comments were an outpouring of love for the latest addition to the Drummond family.
