Meghan Markle’s return to the television screen was put on pause due to the Palisades and Eaton fires, among other wildfires, ripping through Los Angeles County in January. But now, fans are getting to see her return to the screen! Keep reading for everything we know.

Why did Meghan Markle postpone her Netflix show?

Meghan’s highly anticipated new series, With Love, Meghan, was supposed to drop on Netflix on January 15, 2025, but the Duchess of Sussex quickly postponed its release as her hometown recovers from the natural tragedy.

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Meghan said in a statement on January 12, explaining her decision. With Love, Meghan, drops on March 4.

Meghan grew up in Los Angeles, and now lives with husband Prince Harry and her two small children in the small town of Montecito, California, just about an hour and a half drive north from the City of Angels. The couple quickly sprang into action amid the devastation, not only opening their home to loved ones and friends impacted by the catastrophic fires, but spending an entire day volunteering in Pasadena, working alongside World Central Kitchen to provide food and goods to those in need.

Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo said after the fact that both Meghan and Harry lifted the spirits of those impacted, telling FOX11 Los Angeles, “It’s great people, great personalities and great heart for them to come out here and meet with the first responders, meet with the people who were affected. It’s very important. They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders.”

A strategic return to social media

Meghan’s return to Instagram on January 1 adds an exciting layer to her upcoming series. After deleting her social media accounts in 2018 ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry, she took a hiatus from platforms like Instagram. In several interviews, Meghan explained that stepping back from social media was necessary to protect her mental health amid intense public scrutiny. However, her reactivation of the handle @Meghan signals a renewed openness to sharing her life, passions and projects with the world.

Her first Instagram post featured a short, heartfelt video of Meghan running along a California beach, writing “2025” in the sand with her finger. This reintroduction perfectly aligns with the themes of renewal and connection explored in With Love, Meghan. Fans can hopefully expect behind-the-scenes content from her new show on her Instagram, which has already gained nearly a million followers in just days.

Building on the momentum of ‘Harry & Meghan’

Meghan’s new series follows the success of Netflix’s documentary series Harry & Meghan, which premiered in December 2022. The six-part series provided a raw, emotional account of the couple’s decision to step back from royal life and establish a new home in California. Their story captivated viewers worldwide, offering a glimpse into the couple’s commitment to forging a life grounded in purpose, creativity and family.

With Love, Meghan continues this narrative, showcasing Meghan’s journey of self-expression and her deep appreciation for home and family. Her recipes and conversations highlight the values that underpin her life and her desire to inspire others to create meaningful moments in their own lives.

From royalty to California roots

The show also reflects Meghan’s personal evolution since moving to Montecito, California, with Prince Harry in 2020. After stepping back from their royal duties, the couple sought a quieter, more independent life in the sunny enclave they now call home. Montecito’s laid-back lifestyle and emphasis on well-being are woven into the fabric of With Love, Meghan, from the recipes she shares to the stories she tells.
