Leaving Louisiana behind with their kids in tow, Jep and Jessica make their way to Texas, where they will help bring Comanche Moon to life—a travel destination and community where folks can embrace a slower pace and take in the beauty of nature. Why the ‘Duck Dynasty’ cast’s Jep and Jessica Robertson moved to Texas

In Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou, the couple are presented with an exciting opportunity to help develop Comanche Moon. A large property, the idea is that it will be divided into smaller “ranchettes,” allowing folks to indulge in that quintessential ranch life on a smaller scale while also allowing for a sense of community. At the heart of this community are a series of homes that look straight out of The Lord of the Rings, built into the earth and resembling the famed Shire from the books and films. 

Pursuing this opportunity was, of course, a risk, and viewers will get a look at all that went into making this decision for their family. However, the experience has taught Jep that with great risk often comes great reward. “Anything in your family that you may think, ‘Oh, this is kind of hard, I don’t know if we should do this,’ honestly, is probably the best thing you should do. Something that’s a little out of your comfort zone, but that’s cool and fun and you kind of grow together.” 

Jess echoed this sentiment, saying, “Sometimes God wants you to go through something or enter into something and it may fail, but maybe that was His plan all along.”

Jep and Jessica Robertson reveal their best marriage advice

Like most couples, there’s a certain balance in Jep and Jess’ relationship, and pursuing this opportunity—risks and all—there was the knowledge between them that their relationship could handle the potential stressors that might come their way. After nearly 25 years of marriage, their advice for couples is simple: “Don’t give up.”

“We went through a lot,” shared Jess. “I mean, we’re celebrating 25 years this October, and it wasn’t easy for a lot of those years. And even when we felt like we were on the same team, it still wasn’t easy all the time.” 

She continued, “Getting to the point where you can fight for the person you love and fight for your marriage instead of thinking the person is against you, I think that really helped.”
