‘You Really Sound Like Harry Styles’—This Taxi Driver Had No Idea It Was Actually the Pop Star!
In a rare low-key moment, the former One Direction singer flew under the radar in a London cab
Harry Styles might be one of the most recognizable people in the world — from his flamboyant fashion to a voice nobody would soon forget. But this past weekend, the singer had a taxi driver fooled as she had no idea that he was the Harry Styles.
On Sunday, March 23, a woman driving a taxi in London unknowingly picked up Styles and had a conversation with him before realizing his identity. The woman, under the Instagram handle @pinklondontaxi, shared a photo of the two explaining the confusion.
“Picked up this young fella on my way home tonight,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “We got chatting and I said ‘You really sound like Harry Styles’ He said “That’s because I am Harry Styles “ 🤣🤣🤣 He was such a friendly young chap!”
Why the taxi driver didn’t recognize Harry Styles
The “Watermelon Sugar” singer wasn’t sporting his usual fashion looks and instead opted for something more casual, hence the confusion. Styles was sporting a blue baseball cap, along with a blue button-down shirt. The singer also had a mustache.
But the taxi driver was very certain she knew her passenger’s voice and that’s because she had heard it before — from his music!
Other times Harry Styles went unnoticed
If you think it’s unusual for someone not to recognize Styles, think again, as this isn’t the first time someone has had a conversation with the singer unknowingly. Back in December 2024, Darnell Davis posed next to Styles for a photo after he complimented his outfit.
Although the man didn’t recognize Styles, people approached him asking for photos. Davis had no idea why people were asking his new friend for pictures, but he took them anyway. Later, he asked Styles, “Who are you?” Styles replied to Davis, saying, “I’m a singer.” Then, Davis asked, “What’s your name?” to which the singer replied, “Harry Styles.”
While many would instantly recognize Styles in an instant, Davis still had no idea who he was and had to do a quick Google search to figure it out, soon discovering Styles was “crazy famous.”
Styles has also been spotted out and about on numerous occasions in recent months, most notably competing in the Tokyo Marathon. The singer’s finishing time was 3:24:07, an impressive one, surpassing the times of nearly 20,000 runners.
What has Harry Styles been up to lately?
It’s been quite a while since Styles has made an official public appearance, especially after the passing of former One Direction member and Styles’ friend, Liam Payne, in October 2024. The singer has been keeping a low profile since the news broke.
Styles also hasn’t toured in almost two years; his most recent one, Love On Tour, ended back in July 2023. That tour went on for a total of 22 months, beginning in September 2021 for his 2022 album, Harry’s House.
