You may remember her from her younger years on the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting or the spin-off series that followed, Counting On, but Jana Wissmann (formerly Duggar) is all grown up as she’s gotten married and announced that she would be welcoming her first child. After fans had been speculating for quite some time, the 35-year-old former television personality confirmed the news in a post shared to Instagram.
Jana wrote: “We are so excited, January 2026 is going to come with a little bundle of joy joining our family! We’re counting down the days and eagerly looking forward to this thrilling new chapter in our lives!” The news was met with much celebration from both her siblings and fans alike. Her sister Jill commented: “So excited for y’all! And her sister Jessa added: Can’t wait to meet this baby!!”
Jana Duggar on waiting for ‘the one’
Jana is the eldest daughter of the Duggar bunch, led by patriarch Jim Bob and matriarch Michelle, and back in 2024, she tied the knot with her husband, Stephen Wissmann. Jana got married a little later than her siblings, but waiting until she found “the one” felt right to her. “I’m just like, ‘What is it? Is it me? Do I have a problem?’ I know I’ve prayed for this for years and years and definitely been like, ‘What’s the matter? Why can’t I just…’ all of my siblings, most of them have been married in their early 20s,” she told People ahead of her nuptials last year. “By far, I am the oldest. So it has been disheartening at times.”
Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann’s love story
Jana and Stephen first met when she was in her early teens, and though they dated on and off in the past, things eventually fell into place once again. He and his family made up The Wissmans, a family band, and now, he works for his family’s home renovation business. “It takes me a bit to open up, but I think just his continuing to be there, no matter what, through ups and downs,” she continued. “He’s been a good friend over the years and has not pressured me in a lot of ways.”
Who is Stephen Wissmann?
The oldest of her siblings, Jana certainly knows a thing or two about caring for kids, and her husband Stephen isn’t a stranger to large families either! He comes from a crew of 13 kids, so between these two, it seems as though they both have a bit of practice. As stated on the Duggar family’s website, Jana enjoys a wide range of hobbies that include gardening and being outdoors, traveling, as well as things like interior design and DIY.
From Arkansas to Nebraska: Jana’s new life
Since getting married, Jana has said goodbye to her life in Arkansas and she and her husband have settled down in Nebraska—a move that was a bit of an adjustment for the former Duggar daughter. “I know my life is about to change in many ways, moving more to the city life,” she said in a YouTube video shared before tying the knot. “I am so excited for what lies ahead, but I am also sure that I’ll have moments when I miss the farm. The sun rising over the orchard, the garden, the animals—it’s just so peaceful out here.”
