Imagine proposing to your fiancée at the world premiere of the highly anticipated Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch. Seems like a lot, right? Well, cast member Sterlin English admits that he almost did just that! While talking to Woman’s World on the red carpet, he revealed that the day before the premiere he proposed to his now fiancée, after deciding that a highly public proposal wasn’t for him. For more on the super cute story, keep reading.

Sterlin English shares his proposal story

English is an up-and-coming actor whose previous credits include Big Sky (2021), Ransom Canyon (2023) and Eddington (2025). In Dutton Ranch he plays a cowboy named Austin Lewis, and while details of his role remain limited, we do have info on his real-life love story.

English has been in a long-term relationship with Jayden Utash for quite a while. They bonded over their shared love of God and the West and got engaged.

“That was a train wreck,” English tells Woman’s World of the proposal. “Truthfully, I almost screwed the whole thing up. We flew out yesterday [and] our flight boarded at 5:45. We woke up at 5:15 and we were 45 minutes away. And I pulled up to the valet at 5:50. I made it in. They didn’t let her take her bags on. She had to get on the next flight. They only had one plane ticket on the next flight, so I would have missed my flight and we wouldn’t have gotten here.”

“The next flight that got out came at 8:30 last night,” he continues. “I had photographers. Everything was set up for the proposal last night. It could have gone horribly, but it didn’t, it went great.”

That’s right: She said yes! Since the proposal was so close to the Dutton Ranch premiere, many people—including us—were wondering if English considered doing it on the carpet.

“I did, but I wanted to keep it more at home,” the actor explains. “I wanted to keep it quiet, and I wanted to give her her moment.”

Sterlin English teases ‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 1

One of the most asked questions about Dutton Ranch is ‘what in the world is Season 1 going to be about?’

Sure, we know it follows Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) after they decide to move from Montana to Texas, but aside from that we don’t fully know what their lives are going to be like in Texas. We also don’t know how Annette Bening’s character Beulah Jackson will impact everything and up until the first episode—which dropped today— we didn’t even know why they moved to Texas in the first place; Spoiler alert: Beth and Rip’s Montana ranch caught on fire and they decided to start over in the Lone Star state.

When asked what he could spoil about his character and Season 1, English said, “I don’t think I can.”
