The relationships brought to life on the screen in Abbott Elementary, both platonic and romantic, are ones we can’t get enough of. However, as for the actors and actresses who bring these hilarious characters to life, some of them have found forever in their real-life partners off screen. From Quinta Brunson to Sheryl Lee Ralph, read all about the real-life relationships of the Abbott Elementary cast.

Quinta Brunson was married until this year

Quinta Brunson is credited as creator, writer and star of Abbott Elementary, and while on-screen fans love rooting for the sparks between her character of Janine and Tyler James Williams’ character of Gregory, in real life, Quinta Brunson was married to Kevin Jay Anik up until this past March when they finalized their divorce. Though the duo kept their relationship rather private while they were together, Quinta once referred to him as “the most supportive man I’ve ever known” after receiving her Emmy.

Tyler James Williams’ relationship status—is he dating anyone?

While we love this charming cutie on Abbott Elementary and he has been tied to a few partners publicly in the past, such as actress Anastasia Baranova, Tyler James Williams seems to currently be riding solo.

Lisa Ann Walter on marriage, divorce and finding fulfillment

While Lisa Ann Walter isn’t currently tied to anyone, she has spoken candidly about her past relationships. Her first marriage with Sam Baum ended when he came out to her, but it’s a relationship she looks back on fondly. “I didn’t want to be in a relationship with someone who wanted something that I could not possibly provide,” she shared with Cosmopolitan. “Sam comes over every weekend, and as he left the other day, he said, ‘Bye, my sort-of wife!’ I think my kids would love to Parent Trap us and get us back together. We’re not sexual and yet my relationship with him fulfills a lot of needs.” With Sam, she had two children, Delia and Jordan.

While her second marriage ended on rockier terms as she also detailed to Cosmopolitan that he was unfaithful, she also shared two sons with him, Simon and Spencer.

Sheryl Lee Ralph and her husband’s long-distance love story

While Sheryl Lee Ralph shared two children with her first husband, Eric Maurice, they called it quits in 2001. In 2005, she tied the knot with Pennsylvania Senator Vincent Hughes. Even though her husband’s work keeps him in Philadelphia and her work largely keeps her in Los Angeles, the couple knows how to make it work. Vincent is not able to leave the state the way I can leave the state. In fact, in 20 years of our being together, I’m going to say my husband has been in California maybe 25 times. That means I’m in Philadelphia every two weeks,” she revealed to PEOPLE of the arrangement that works best for them.

Janelle James’ romantic Paris getaway—who’s the mystery man?

Janelle James has kept much of her personal life private aside from the fact that she has two sons and was previously married. Back in 2024, she revealed that her boyfriend took her on a romantic trip to Paris while appearing on Live With Kelly and Mark, though his identity has been kept under wraps.

Chris Perfetti’s private life—and why he keeps it that way

We love Chris Perfetti for the humor he brings to the Abbott cast, and he is another member of the crew who seems to be riding solo.

At the end of the day, the Abbott Elementary cast may make us laugh with their classroom chaos and heartfelt moments—but off-screen, they’re living stories every bit as relatable as the ones they tell on TV. From Sheryl Lee Ralph’s inspiring long-distance marriage to Quinta Brunson’s fresh start and Lisa Ann Walter’s beautifully unconventional family, these stars remind us that love looks different for everyone—and it’s never too late to find the version that fits just right. Now that’s a lesson worth keeping after the final bell rings.
