In recent years, many celebrities have begun leaving Hollywood behind to settle down in a much quieter and more private area. This includes Yellowstone star Luke Grimes, who lives in Montana with his wife and son—just like his character Kayce Dutton! Below, we take you inside his home in Montana and how the Taylor Sheridan shop inspired him to make the move.
Inside Luke Grimes’ home in Montana
Grimes moved to the Bitterroot Valley in Montana in 2020 with his wife, Bianca Rodrigues Grimes. They decided to move there after Grimes fell in love with the area while filming Yellowstone, and decided that he wanted to stay there forever.
“I was going up there three or four months out of the year, and then anytime we’d get done filming, and I’d come back here, it sort of felt like I was leaving home rather than going back home,” Grimes told Fox News Digital in February of this year. “It was just a gear change that slowly happened over a course of a few years and then, yeah, my wife and I just fell in love with it and decided to live there.”
Since moving there, Grimes says that some of the Montana locals haven’t been that welcoming to him and his family.

“I can’t go to bars there anymore ‘cause whatever that one idiot is, is at the bar, and he can’t wait to start a fight with me. Just like can’t wait to do it because it’s like a win-win for him, you know? He gets to sue me or something. I don’t know, but it’s a lose-lose for me,” Grimes said on Joe Rogan Experience in March of this year.
“The valley that I live in, we had some people come visit us,” the actor continued. “Our friends from California drove out, and we went on a hike, and we were in their car. And they had, you know, Cali plates. We get off the hike, and someone had written ‘go back’ in the dust on their car. Like, people are super weird about it. So I don’t tell anyone exactly where I’m at because they would get really mad at me.”
Luke Grimes opens up about his son
In October 2024, Grimes and Bianca welcomed their son into their world. He lives in Montana with his parents, and according to the actor nothing makes him happier than being a parent.
“It’s such a wild thing to try to explain—your world gets a lot more focused; a lot of the things that seemed like a big deal before have really kind of fallen into the background, and your reason why becomes a lot bigger, if that makes any sense,” Grimes told Country Living in 2025. “Any decision I make now is based around how that’s going to affect him, and it’s kind of nice; sort of simplifies your decision-making process because you have a real top priority now.”

Despite their Western way of living, Grimes says that his son has yet to get used to seeing his father in a cowboy hat.
“My son thinks my cowboy hat is really funny,” Grimes told People magazine in February 2026. “He doesn’t understand why I have that big thing on my head, but he loves it.”
