All About the New ‘Jurassic World’ Movie Starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey!

There’s something about the Jurassic World film series that no matter how many new installments there are, we just can’t seem to get enough of these action-thrillers centering around the prehistoric. The first Jurassic World film, which was preceded by 2001’s Jurassic Park III, came out in 2015 and was led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. In the first film, Pratt plays the part of Owen Grady, a velociraptor expert who works on the same island where the Jurassic World theme park is. However, when one of the park’s most menacing creatures breaks loose, it’s up to him and the park’s operations manager, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, to keep the guests, as well as the creatures, safe.
Since then, there have been two additional films, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion, and while Dominion gave us the last of Pratt’s Owen Grady, the newest film set to continue the franchise will introduce a new character played by a very famous face. None other than Scarlett Johansson will portray the lead character in the all-new film Jurassic World Rebirth. Here, everything we know so far about this flick that’s sure to thrill.
What will the new ‘Jurassic World’ movie be about?
In this new Jurassic installment, Johansson brings to life the lead character of Zora Bennett, a woman recruited to take on a high-stakes mission in an isolated location: the research facility for the original Jurassic Park. There, she and her crew are sent to acquire DNA from the three biggest dinosaurs at the park, as it would allow for a medical breakthrough that could save lives. However, the journey to their final destination reveals that they are amongst some of the most dangerous creatures in the world—specifically, those that were too dangerous for the original park.
Who will be in the new ‘Jurassic World’ movie?
In addition to Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey of Bridgerton and Wicked will be joining the cast as Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist partaking in the mission. Additionally, Mahershala Ali will bring to life the character of Duncan Kincaid, the man who will aid Zora and Dr. Loomis on the journey to their destination. In the trailer, Johansson’s character describes Duncan as “the best at moving things and people in and out of places they shouldn’t be.” Additional cast members include Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Bechir Sylvain.

For Scarlett Johansson, being a part of this film is a dream come true. “I was really crazy about the [original] film, and I slept in a Jurassic Park pup tent in my bedroom I shared with my sister for a year,” Johansson told Variety about her love for the movies. “Anytime the trades would report a new Jurassic movie, I would forward to my agents like, ‘Hey, I’m available.’”
