Everything Bruce Springsteen Biopic: Jeremy Allen White and The Boss Dish On ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’
See Jeremy Allen White shine as The Boss!
It’s safe to say we’re in the age of the biopic. Rami Malek led 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody with an expert interpretation of Freddie Mercury, Austin Butler gave a once-in-a-lifetime performance as the “King of Rock and Roll” in Elvis (2022), Timothee Chalamet stunned as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown (2024), and soon enough, the life of another notable musician is getting the biopic treatment: Bruce Springsteen. Here, read everything we need to know about Deliver Me from Nowhere, telling the story of “The Boss.”
What is ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’ about? A look at the Bruce Springsteen biopic
This highly-anticipated film is based on the book of the same name by Warren Zane, Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska. As the title suggests, the film is set to chronicle the making of The Boss’s 1982 album Nebraska, an influential piece of his discography as it differed from the previous albums he had become known for. The songs on Nebraska paint a darker picture, one that illustrates the experience of the everyday working-class American, and dives into themes like desperation and struggle.
Meet the cast of ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’
Deliver Me from Nowhere has a star-studded lineup, and it’s one we can’t wait to see. Jeremy Allen White, known by most for his roles in The Bear and Shameless, will take the lead as Bruce Springsteen. Joining him is Jeremy Strong of Succession, bringing to life the part of Jon Landau, who is The Boss’ longtime manager. Johnny Cannizzaro will also join the cast as Steven Van Zandt of the E Street Band, with Odessa Young bringing to life Bruce’s love interest in the film, Faye. The movie will also feature Paul Walter Hauser as guitar technician Mike Batlan, Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Gaby Hoffmann as his mother, and countless others who will bring this story to life in full force.

What the cast of the Bruce Springsteen biopic says about the film
In 2024, Jeremy Allen White dished to GQ on what he was doing to prepare for this role. “I’ve got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing. I’m also really lucky [that] Bruce is really supportive of the film, and so I’ve had some access to him and he’s just the greatest guy,” he shared. “Also, there’s just so much footage. It’s really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice. That’s kind of been the deal, just listening to him a lot and watching him a lot. It’s been really fun preparing.”
Jeremy Strong has also shared the love recently, telling Deadline, “It’s honestly been one of the greatest working experiences I’ve ever had.” He continued, “If you’re a Bruce person as I am now more than ever, just being in the orbit and telling the story about Nebraska…it’s really a story about artistic authenticity in an increasingly synthetic world.”
How Bruce Springsteen is involved
Since the filming of Deliver Me from Nowhere began, Springsteen has been sure to drop in on set when he can, and he hasn’t shied away from praising Jeremy Allen White’s portrayal of him. “Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it,” Springsteen said on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio. “He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize and he’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun. I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ trailer
In a newly released trailer for the film, fans got a glimpse at what Jeremy Allen White is going to bring to the role, and we can already tell it’s something great. In addition to featuring previews of some of our favorite hits by The Boss, we also got a bit of a look at what the story itself might hold. “Let me tell you a little story,” speaks Jeremy Strong’s character in the trailer. “When Bruce was little, he had a hole in the floor of his bedroom. The floor, it’s supposed to be solid. He’s supposed to be able to stand on it. Bruce, he didn’t have that. Bruce is a repair man. And what he is doing with this album, is he’s repairing that hole in his floor. He’s repairing that hole in himself. And once he’s done that, he’s gonna repair the entire world.”
Does Jeremy Allen White sing in Springsteen movie?
In the trailer for the film, fans hear songs like “Nebraska” and “Born to Run,” and many were left wondering whose voice they were hearing. Spoiler alert: it’s Jeremy Allen White! Who knew he had pipes on him like that? Vocal coach Eric Vetro, who worked with White to nail Springsteen’s voice, told People, “He has a certain energy about him, where you just feel like he’s going to jump in 100% and throw himself into the role, and that’s what he did. He just threw himself into playing Bruce Springsteen.” He continued, “It takes a lot of oomph and energy, because Bruce doesn’t phone it in. He’s like full out, if I can say, balls-to-the-wall singing. It’s that full-out belting of those songs, and Jeremy just flung himself into it.”
When does ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ release?
