Romance readers rejoice! Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Reminders of Him is officially becoming a movie, and trust us when we say the cast is top-notch. After all, who doesn’t love Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford?! Below, we break down what exactly moviegoers can learn about the film, including who else is in the cast and when it hits theaters.

What to know about the ‘Reminders of Him’ movie

The movie Reminders of Him will follow the same plot as the 2022 book. In it, Kenna Rowan returns to her hometown after spending five years in prison for the accidental murder of her boyfriend, Scotty Landry. All she wants to do is see her daughter, but Scotty’s parents—who have custody of the child—don’t want that to happen. Enter Ledger Ward, Scotty’s best friend, who might just be Kenna’s one and only connection to her daughter. It’s a heartwarming tale filled with second chances and found family.

“I am thrilled to be working with Universal to bring Kenna Rowan’s world to life. I hear from many readers who tell me they found something of themselves in her story of living with and through tragedy and doing the often messy and imperfect work of healing and turning the page to a fresh chapter in life,” Hoover told Deadline in October of 2024. “I am excited as Reminders of Him holds a special place in my heart, too. I feel confident Universal is the right partner to do this story justice. What better way to launch Heartbones Entertainment, my company with producing partner Lauren Levine? Our aim is to create something quite special for everyone.”

Levine added to that, telling the outlet, “This is a dream debut for Heartbones. We couldn’t have a stronger partner for our first film than Universal or a more representative project for the stories we are passionate about telling than Reminders of Him.”

“Colleen’s legions of fans demonstrate that women are yearning for more authentic stories about their lives. Heartbones aims to deliver to movies what Colleen has done so successfully in publishing, and we know these stories will find emotional and economic resonance in the modern movie business,” Levine concluded.

Meet the cast: Who is playing Kenna, Ledger and Scotty?

In the Reminders of Him movie, Maika Monroe (It Follows and In Cold Light) will be Kenna, Tyriq Withers (Tell Me Lies and I Know What You Did Last Summer) will play Ledger and Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks and Uncharted) will play Scotty.

Scotty’s parents will be played by Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls and Parenthood) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing and Saving Mr. Banks), respectively.

“Honestly, the Colleen Hoover movie scared me the most—not because of stunts or gore, but because I had to sit in that softness,” Withers told Blavity of the film in September of 2025. “As a man, I was raised to be tough. But I’ve learned that the coolest part of masculinity is being gentle. That role taught me a lot about myself. This spectrum of roles helps me grow as a person, not just an actor.”

When is the ‘Reminders of Him’ movie release date?

Reminders of Him will be released in theaters on Friday, March 13.

“With Colleen, she has such a massive fanbase, so of course, there’s a pressure,” Monroe told RadioTimes.com in October of 2025. “But also, immediately, I connected with the character. Not only having a script but also an entire book to really understand the inner workings of this character was really helpful. So I’m hoping the fans are happy.”
