Remember that magical feeling of watching Lorelai Gilmore get excited about the first snowfall? That cozy, heartwarming moment when Stars Hollow transformed into a winter wonderland? Well, get ready to feel that joy again!

Gilmore Girls ran from 2000 to 2007, and those snowy Stars Hollow episodes were pure magic. We all fell in love with Lorelai’s pure joy every time those first snowflakes started falling—running outside, arms spread wide, soaking in every moment.

It’s been 18 years since the end of the show and 9 years since the reboot series Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life gave us that brief reunion. But we’re all still missing those cozy, snowy days in Stars Hollow.

Fans have been hoping for another reunion for years, and guess what? The stars might just have the perfect idea to make it happen.

Lauren Graham’s holiday movie pitch

At the recent 77th Annual Emmy Awards, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel reunited on stage—standing on a makeshift version of their iconic Stars Hollow front porch. But it was what Graham said before the show that really got our hearts racing

I thought we were done with that conversation, and I realized we are not,” Graham said of a potential Gilmore Girls reunion on the Emmys red carpet. “But I’ve been saying for a long time, what I could see making sense is a Christmas movie in the tradition of Downton Abbey or those other kinds of shows that are over but then kind of come together, especially around the holidays. I think that would be very Gilmore friendly.”

She then added, “Also, in America we don’t have enough holiday programming. Football is not holiday programming.”

Here’s the thing that makes this even more exciting—Graham has been thinking about this Christmas movie idea for a while now.

Earlier this year, she shared more details about this Christmas movie vision on the Armchair Expert podcast with her former Parenthood co-star Dax Shepard

Given everyone’s lives and schedules, it’s a Christmas movie,” Graham shared. “It’s not me trying to get out of the [Gilmore Girls revival] question. It is literally what I could picture.”

The Walmart ad that had us dreaming of more ‘Gilmore Girls’

The last time fans saw the Gilmore Girls enjoy the snow was during the revival, which took place nearly a decade ago. But then cast members reunited for a snowy Walmart advertisement that brought Stars Hollow back to life!

Graham joined her former on-screen love interest, Scott Patterson, for a holiday ad, where they all stepped into their characters’ shoes once again. The ad ended with the two looking up as the snow falls, in typical Gilmore Girls fashion. See the advertisement below.

While there’s no official Gilmore Girls Christmas movie announcement yet, we’re keeping our hopes high. After all, Lauren Graham’s vision of a cozy Stars Hollow holiday reunion sounds absolutely perfect—and with all the love fans continue to show this series, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before we’re back in our favorite small town for the holidays.
