Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) wastes no time getting back into the game in the just-released trailer for Boston Blue. The spinoff series to the wildly successful CBS series Blue Bloods is set to premiere in a few weeks, and based on this short clip, it feels as if no time has passed since Danny was running down the streets of New York City.

It’s been less than a year since Blue Bloods ended, and we left the Reagan family, also known as NYPD royalty, back in New York City in a lively discussion at one of their Sunday dinners. Now, Danny Reagan is on yet another mission to solve crime but this time, he’s headed to Boston, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done. Take a look at the recent trailer for Boston Blue, which dropped a few days ago, and find out what he’s up to in a new city.

Danny has a reputation

If you were a frequent viewer of Blue Bloods and followed the Reagan’s story for the past 15 years, you likely know a little bit about Danny’s hotheaded approach to the job. While it always resulted in a success for both him and his partner, Danny’s methods weren’t always well-received by everyone.

In the new trailer, Danny is seen running from a crime scene when he is chased down by Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), who thinks he’s a criminal fleeing. When he gets caught, Danny calmly explains he is an NYPD detective.

“I’m detective Daniel Reagan, NYPD,” Danny says in the trailer. “My shield is in my front chest pocket.” When Silver asks if he’s referring to his badge, he responds, “Where I’m from it’s a shield.”

Silver questions Danny about his “reputation” as a detective, implying it isn’t a good one. But in Danny’s view, he has a reputation “for getting things done.”

What to expect in the premiere episode

For Danny Reagan, it’s out of the frying pan and into the fire—literally. He and Silver soon join forces to investigate a deadly fire at a tech company, where they “uncover a complex web of secrets involving facial-recognition technology, family ties and a search for justice that brings the Silver and Reagan families closer together.”

In typical Blue Bloods fashion, it seems there will be a Sunday night dinner, though Danny’s father, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), isn’t at the head of the table. Danny, Lena, a few other Reagans, including Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), and some new faces are seen gathered around for dinner.

Although it seems tensions are high, Danny is seamlessly slipping back into the job and role of detective, even if it’s in a new town.

“Ready to run it back, Brooklyn?” Lena asks Danny, to which he responded, “Try and stop me, Beantown.”

Make sure to tune into the first episode of Boston Blue, as it premieres on Friday, October 17 at 10:00 PM, only on CBS.
