Where the Cast of ‘Mom’ Is Now, 5 Years Later: ‘That Role Was Cinderella’s Shoe’
Check in with the stars of the hit Chuck Lorre sitcom—Allison Janney to Anna Faris
Raising two kids on your own is challenging enough without having to manage your newfound sobriety as well, and that’s exactly what Christy Plunkett experienced on Mom. The Chuck Lorre sitcom, which ran for 8 seasons from 2013 until 2021, starred Allison Janney, Anna Faris and so many other stars that you’ll want to catch up with. Find out what the cast has been doing since the series came to an end almost five years ago.
Allison Janney as Bonnie Plunkett

Born: November 19, 1959, Boston, Massachusetts
Best known for: The West Wing (1999-2006), Juno (2007), Hairspray (2007), The Help (2011), Palm Royale (2024), Another Simple Favor (2025) and Everything’s Going to Be Great (2025)
Thoughts on Mom: “She’s nothing if she’s not completely honest, and it’s endearing how unapologetic she is about what she wants and needs,” Janney said about her character. “People like to laugh at her because they know she has a big heart. It makes it a lot of fun to play her darker side. She’s a survivor, she’s scrappy and she’s done everything to make a buck, sometimes illegal things.”
Anna Faris as Christy Plunkett

Born: November 29, 1976, Baltimore, Maryland
Personal life: Previously married to Ben Indra (2004-2008) and to Chris Pratt (2009-2018); married to Michael Barrett since 2021; mother of son Jack Pratt
Best known for: Scary Movie series (2000-2006), Friends (2004), Brokeback Mountain (2005), Just Friends (2005) and The House Bunny (2008)
Thoughts on Mom: “The day this script came to me, I was in the middle of reading another movie script that was a two-page role,” Faris explained. “I had left this script on the kitchen counter, and my husband picked it up and read the first page, and he said, ‘Whatever you’re doing, put it down right now. This is you!’… Every once in a while, you get fortunate enough to play a role that feels like Cinderella’s shoe, and this felt like that. She’s so dimensional.”
Mimi Kennedy as Marjorie Armstrong

Born: September 25, 1948, Rochester, New York
Personal life: Married to Larry Diig since 1978; mother to daughter Molly and son Cisco
Best known for: Pump Up the Volume (1990), In the Loop (2009), Midnight in Paris (2011) and The Five-Year Engagement (2012)
Thoughts on Mom: “I feel as if this role is such a good fit,” Kennedy said. “Sometimes, I feel silly but I feel like I didn’t know myself for most of my life… Marjorie just feels right. She’s useful, and I can’t tell you how important that is to be at this point in my life. I am grateful to the writers for writing Marjorie in a way that I am able to go deep and also be the clown. It is the perfect mix for a sitcom.”
Beth Hall as Wendy Harris

Born: June 5, 1958, Bogota, New Jersey,
Personal life: Married to Philip Hall since 1997 and mother of one child
Best known for: Mad Men (2010-2015) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2011)
Thoughts on Mom: “I think [Mom] made you feel,” Hall shared. “It wasn’t just silliness. So, I hope that’s the legacy of the show, that it was a funny show that made people feel and it made a difference, because it did make a difference in a lot of people’s lives.”
Jaime Pressly as Jill Kendall

Born: July 30, 1977, Kinston, North Carolina
Personal life: Previously married to Simran Singh (2009-2011); mother of three—twin sons Leo and Lenon and son Dezi James
Best known for: Not Another Teen Movie (2001), Joe Dirt (2001), My Name is Earl (2005-2009) and I Love You, Man (2009)
Thoughts on Mom: “The thing that’s been great about our show is unlike other multi-cam shows or comedy, we get to do a lot of drama,” Pressly explained. “Great comedy comes from real-life drama, and we have great writers who walk fine lines every week having to write about a topic that’s serious, but still finding the funny in it. For everybody, the biggest challenge was getting it right without stepping over the line.”
William Fichtner as Adam Janikowski

Born: November 27, 1956, Long Island, New York
Personal life: Previously married to Betsy Aidem (1987-1996); married to Kymberly Kalil since 1998; father of two sons, Vangel and Sam
Best known for: Armageddon (1998), Black Hawk Down (2001), Crash (2004) and Drive Angry (2011)
Thoughts on Mom: “Working as the character Adam is awesome,” Fictner shared. “The show works because, first of all, it’s a Chuck Lorre show… I love doing the show. The show works because of the talent that is on it. Allison and Anna are great. And it’s the writing also.”
