New TV Comedy ‘Middlehood’ Reunites These ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Stars—See the Plot, Cast and More

What is ‘Middlehood’ about?

Lisa Giordano-Navarro (Elena Wohl) is smack in the middle of a midlife crisis. She’s caught in the middle of her life. She’s in between being married and fully divorced, having a thriving career and being unemployed and she’s caught between her family members, specifically her conservative, immigrant parents.

While on a visit to see her family, Lisa struggles with figuring out her own identity, while also understanding her family and where she came from. 

“At its core, Middlehood is a timely, universal American immigrant family story,” said writer and director, Michele Palermo. “You just don’t often see this story told from the point of view of a fully vibrant fifty-something woman, particularly with humor and grace. So, I took a page out of the indie film movement and made the TV show myself, pulling together an immensely talented team to help.”

The cast of ‘Middlehood’

Along with Wohl as the main character, Lisa, the new sitcom also stars Mark Damon Espinoza as Bill Navarro, Jazmín Caratini as Manuela Abello-Giordano, Fran Montano as Tano Giordano, Lisa Goodman as Ella Giordano, Anna Talakkottur as Nisha Desai, Richard Milanesi as Aldo Giordano and Chris Mollica as Marco Giordano.

Also appearing in the show for one episode is former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Gabrielle Carteris, who starred alongside series regular Mark Damon Espinoza. 

“We loved bringing ‘90210’ co-stars Mark Damon Espinoza and Gabrielle Carteris together again on-screen – with the promise of more to come,” Palermo shared.

Wohl also commented on her taking on her character and how she’s enjoyed portraying Lisa Giordano-Navarro in the series. 

“I feel so close to the funny, outspoken character of Lisa Giordano-Navarro in Middlehood,” Wohl shared. “She’s a woman who decides the world doesn’t get to dictate her circumstances—and she stops giving a pass to her parents, her husband, or her job. From the start, working with the immensely talented Michele Palermo felt truly synergistic—we were completely in sync. I’m proud to have been recognized by the New York City International Film Festival, and I think it’s the perfect time for streaming viewers to experience the love, spirit, and true grit of an immigrant family.”
