A spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight, Elsbeth follows whip-smart attorney Elsbeth Tascioni as she aids the NYPD in solving crimes across the city. Her eccentric style and quirky demeanor have made this character a fan favorite, and with the third season set to hit screens on October 12, get to know the cast that brings this show to life and find out where you may have seen them.

While Carrie Preston’s character of Elsbeth was first introduced during her run on The Good Wife and later, The Good Fight, she’s known by many for her depiction of Arlene Fowler on the hit vampire drama True Blood. Additional projects such as Happyish and Claws also line her resume, but the red-headed actress is happy to be back in pink.

“This is definitely my dream job,” Preston told The Wrap of bringing the character to life earlier this year. “This is something I’ve wanted and hoped to get, but never really dreamed that I would at this stage in my life. So the fact that it’s happening now makes me appreciate it maybe more than had it happened in my twenties.”

Wendell Pierce as Captain C.W. Wagner

While we love Wendell Pierce’s portrayal of Captain Wagner, before his Elsbeth role came along, he certainly kept busy. The actor had a prominent role in the widely celebrated series The Wire, and what followed was consistent appearances in a wide variety of television series. Perhaps you’ve caught him over the years in shows like Treme, The Michael J. Fox Show, Ray Donovan, The Odd Couple, Suits, Chicago P.D. or Jack Ryan.

Cara Patterson as Kaya Blake

While Kaya Blake might be one of Patterson’s most prominent roles, she’s been hard at work building her acting career over the years. The actress appeared in the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, and before that, she even made an appearance in an episode of The Good Wife! Some of her other television work includes a recurring role in The Arrangement and a part in Turner & Hooch.

Daniel K. Isaac as Lt. Steve Connor

Isaac shines on Elsbeth, but before joining the series, he made a splash on the show Billions as Ben Kim. The actor has also appeared in series such as The Other Two and films in recent years like Plan B (2024) and Outerlands (2025).

Molly Price as Detective Donnelly

Molly Price has been shining in this series as Detective Donnelly, but you’ve probably seen her on your screen a time or two before. She is perhaps most well-known for her role in Third Watch, but she’s also made appearances in several series like Bloodline, Almost Family, Queen America and many more across different genres.

Ben Levi Ross as Teddy Tascioni

Ben Levi Ross portrays Elsbeth’s son Teddy, and the actor has been shining on both stage and screen for years. You probably saw him in the 2021 film tick, tick…BOOM! alongside Andrew Garfield, and on stage, he’s joined shows like Dear Evan Hansen and Ragtime. He also makes music under the name Boychik.

Micaela Diamond as Detective Edwards

Micaela Diamond brings to life Detective Edwards, and she, too, has Broadway roots. She played Babe in The Cher Show, launching her into the mainstream. She’s continued to act on stage but has transitioned to the screen as well with roles in shows like Grotesquerie.
