Summer romance lovers, we have some swoon-worthy news! Carley Fortune’s best-selling summer rom-com (romantic comedy) novel, Every Summer After, is officially being turned into an Amazon Prime Video TV show. To celebrate this wonderful news, we have rounded up everything you need to know about the series, including what it’s going to be about, when you can expect to stream it and what the production company has already decided to change. Read on for more.

What to know about the ‘Every Summer After’ TV show

The Every Summer After TV show was officially greenlit by Amazon Prime Video back in 2024. Along with the announcement, the streaming service also shared that Leila Gerstein (Heart of Dixie and The Handmaid’s Tale) will serve as both the showrunner and executive producer. The author, Carley Fortune, is also expected to be a producer.

I’m excited to partner with Amazon to take their journey even further—beyond the pages of the book, onto the screen, and into the hearts of audiences across the globe,” Fortune said of the news, per Variety. “Every Summer After holds a very special place in my heart and in the hearts of readers all over the world who deeply connect with Sam and Percy’s love story.”

Following that announcement, Fortune also posted her excitement on Instagram, writing, “I’m wildly excited to announce that I’m going to be working with Amazon Studios to turn ESA [Every Summer After] into a series for Amazon Prime.

“This project has been in the making for two years, and I’m so delighted to be able to shout about it. It’s especially poignant timing because it was almost exactly four years ago, in July 2020, that I decided to write the book that would become ESA. I was at the cottage then, and it’s where I am right now. (Actually, I’m in my car at the edge of the bush because I couldn’t get internet to work at the lake!)”

What is ‘Every Summer After’ about?

Every Summer After
Berkley

Every Summer After is a best-selling romance novel that was originally published in 2022 by Berkley, an imprint of Penguin Random House. It was Fortune’s debut, and the plot follows Percy Fraser, who spends her lakeside summers next door to the Florek brothers. Over six summers, her love story with her best friend, Sam Florek, develops. But after she makes the biggest mistake of her life, she loses touch with him. When they are reunited years later, Percy finds her connection with Sam is still undeniable. Now, she must face her past mistakes and see if their love can survive.

Following its release, the novel blew up on BookTok (book-related TikTok) and currently has over 700,000 ratings on Goodreads. Since then, Fortune has published three other novels, including One Golden Summer, which was published this year and features Sam and Percy, the two key characters from Every Summer After
