But it might not be in the way you expect. For the past couple of months, Bush Hager has been working on a show set in the White House and it’s going to be just as dramatic and suspenseful as you hoped it would be. What to know about Jenna Bush Hager’s new show
In May of this year, NBC announced that they would be releasing a new drama show called Line of Fire. It will follow the Hollingsworth family, who have ties to all the law enforcement agencies in Washington, D.C., including the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Secret Service and Department of Justice, after they are forced to come together to try and solve a deadly conspiracy that could threaten civilians and this country’s politicians. It was created by Joshua Safran and Bush Hager will serve as an executive producer on the show, which makes sense since she herself has experience dealing with those groups of people.
“It really is super interesting because it kind of springs from some experience that I had, having Secret Service, which is that protective services do everything for other people and what does that do to your own family?” Bush Hager said on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle in May of this year. “It’s about a family of people that are in different branches of protective services, and there is this big mystery to it. But it’s also about when you sacrifice time with your own family to protect others, what does that do to you all?”
“It’s a family drama, but it’s like, to me, if Scandal and Six Feet Under kind of had a baby, but also with that really pulsive mystery,” Bush Hager added.
The cast of ‘Line of Fire’
So far, the Line of Fire cast consists of Hope Davis, Kat Cunning, Tommy O’Brien, Taylor Bloom, Charlie Barnett and Peter Krause. Details on the actors’ roles in the show remain a mystery, but Krause, who most people know from the show Parenthood, did tease on The Today Show that his character Mike Hollingsworth will face some drama with his wife Jane (Davis) and his son Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr. (O’Brien).
“It’s a fantastic family-centered show which is an action thriller and the writer Josh brings a lot of family dynamics to it. The good, the bad, the ugly, funny, sexy,” he said. “I’m in the Secret Service. My middle son is in the Secret Service. He’s a bit of a thorn in my side [and] he may or may not be having an affair with the president’s daughter.”
Bush Hager was also in that interview and chimed in to say that the affair storyline was “not ripped from the headlines. It’s ripped from what I should have done.”
‘Line of Fire’ release date
Line of Fire will be released on NBC on September 21, 2026, at 10 p.m. EST. It will also be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
