‘Little House on the Prairie’ Is Already Renewed for Season 2—Before Season 1 Even Premieres!

Ahead of its Season 1 premiere, Netflix’s adaptation of Little House on the Prairie has been confirmed to return for a second season.
The show is based on the books of the same name by Laura Ingalls Wilder and will be a reimagining of the beloved 1974 TV show. The logline for the series reads: “Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical Little House books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”

What the cast says about the Season 2 renewal
With the recent news that Little House will be returning for a second season, the cast and crew are thrilled to continue sharing Laura Ingalls Wilder’s story in a new light. Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine shared her excitement over the news to Netflix.
“I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive,” Sonnenshine said. “We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”
Alice Halsey, who will star as Laura Ingalls in the Netflix reboot, shared a sweet sentiment for how she’s feeling about a confirmed Season 2. “We’re headed back to the prairie!!,” Halsey wrote on Instagram. “I am more excited than I can put into words. While we wait for the premiere of season one on July 9th, I am so grateful to be gearing up for season two!!! 🎉 😁”
Will the entire cast be returning?
The cast members from Season 1 are set to continue their roles in the following episodes. This cast includes Alice Halsey, Skywalker Hughes as Laura’s older sister, Mary, Luke Bracey as Charles “Pa” Ingalls and Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline “Ma” Ingalls.
“The exceptional work by Rebecca Sonnenshine and the entire cast and crew on Season 1 has established a rich foundation of storytelling for years to come,” said Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of US and Canada scripted series. “With its hopeful spirit and emotional authenticity, we’re confident that Little House will deliver even more of what fans truly love.”
When will Season 1 premiere?
The release date for the first season was also recently announced and it won’t be long before you can dive right back into the warmhearted story of the Ingalls family.
