From Pedro Pascal to Kaitlyn Dever, Here Is The Latest Update on ‘The Last of Us’ Season 3 Cast
In a show like this, even death can't stop the cast from coming back
When The Last of Us first appeared on HBO Max back in 2023, people fell in love with the dangerous, interesting plot. It was based on a video game of the same name and followed Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) after they joined forces to survive in their post-apocalyptic America. It won eight Primetime Emmy awards and just wrapped up its explosive second season, causing fans to wonder who exactly will be returning for the third season. Well, we have all the must-know info on which cast members are expected to return, plus details on where you’ve seen them before. Scroll on for more.
Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller

Pedro Pascal was born in Chile in 1975 and has since become one of the most talked-about actors around the world. His credits include Game of Thrones (2014), Graceland (2013 to 2014), Narcos (2015 to 2017), Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), The Mandalorian (2019 to 2023), Gladiator II (2024) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025). In The Last of Us, he plays Joel Miller, who dies in Season 2.
“I was always sidestepping how I really felt, that in a big way, my experience was coming to an end on the show,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight. “I guess that was the strangest thing to step through because I felt so bonded to everyone in the show after going through the gauntlet of Season 1 together, not just with Bella [Ramsey], but with the entire cast and crew. So to have this goodbye was very sad for me, and I had such a physical manifestation, a violent mirror of how sad it was for Joel to die. To be honest, it was quite dreamlike.”
As of publication, there is no official word on whether Pascal will appear in Season 3, but people do believe that he could return in either dreams or flashbacks, similar to his post-death appearances in Season 2. He is 50 and has never been married.
Bella Ramsey as Ellie

At just 21 years old Ramsey has already made quite a name for themselves thanks to things like Game of Thrones (2016 to 2019), The Worst Witch (2017 to 2020), His Dark Materials (2020), Becoming Elizabeth (2022), Impact Winter (2022 to 2023) and Hilda (2018 to 2023). They play Ellie in The Last of Us and are considered one of the lead characters, and while there is no official word on if she will be in Season 3, Ramsey is hopeful.
“I haven’t seen any scripts, but yes, I do expect that,” they told Variety in May. “I think that I’m going to be there, but not a whole bunch. We’ve had conversations about that. I sort of have a rough idea of what it’s going to be, but I can’t tell you.”
Ramsey was born in Nottingham, United Kingdom, and recently shared that they were diagnosed with autism. They have one Oscar nomination.
Gabriel Luna as Tony Miller

Gabriel Luna is an actor best known for things like Matador (2014), Wicked City (2015), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2016 to 2017), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) and FUBAR (2013). In The Last of Us, he played Tony Miller, Joel’s (Pascal) brother.
“Pedro and I have many mutual friends, so I felt like I knew him based on how he had been described to me through people like Robert Rodriguez. We both worked with Robert. He worked with him on [We Can Be Heroes], and of course, I worked with Robert on Matador. We also have a lot of shared crew on The Mandalorian,” Luna told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. “So I knew a lot about him, but I was excited to realize that there was this whole other layer to Pedro as an artist, as a person and as a spirit. The spirit of play is deeply ingrained and deeply infused in his makeup, and that was a pleasant surprise.”
Luna is rumored to be returning for Season 3 of the show, although there has been no official announcement. He is 42 and has been married to his wife, Smaranda, since 2011.
Isabela Merced as Dina

Isabela Merced is a 23-year-old actress from Cleveland, Ohio. Her credits include Growing Up Fisher (2014), 100 Things to Do Before High School (2015 to 2016), Transformers: The Last Night (2017), Instant Family (2018), Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019), Turtles All the Way Down (2024) and Superman (2025).. She plays Dina, Ellie’s (Ramsey) love interest in The Last of Us and is expected to be in Season 3.
“They are similar in the right ways and then they are different in the right ways. There are similarities that bring them together, but their differences keep them together because they compensate for what the other lacks,” Merced told The Hollywood Reporter of the relationship in May. “Dina is the brains, and Ellie is the brawn, and this operation wouldn’t work if they weren’t together. Also, what keeps them together is the need for vengeance for Joel’s death, and there’s a lot of guilt there too.”
Young Mazino as Jesse

Young Mazino is an actor best known for things like Blindspot (2016), Beef (2022) and Opus (2025). He plays Jesse, a friend of Ellie’s, in The Last of Us, and it is unclear if he will be in Season 3.
“I love that he’s a reliable, steadfast, stalwart dude. Kind of reminds me of my dad,” he told Variety of his character in May. “Personally, I’ve been very selfish with my ambitions, and impulsive, and I’ve kind of been a loner my whole life. To find someone who was so gung-ho about community, and who cares so much about his friends, in some ways, I feel like that’s the son my dad would have wanted. Someone who’s dependable and reliable—which I am! But I have been selfish with my desires to be an artist and do my own thing. I’ve always been more fixated on freedom. I feel like Jesse represents the other side of that, which is to voluntarily want to have these burdens of love and burdens of responsibility.”
He is 33 and originally from Montgomery County, Maryland.
Danny Ramirez as Manny Alvarez

Danny Ramirez is an actor whose titles include On My Block (2018 to 2019), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and Captain America: Brave New World (2025). He plays Manny Alvarez in The Last of Us and is expected to be in Season 3.
“So Craig [Mazin, a writer on the show], when he was auditioning people for Season 2, he’s like, ‘Hey, by the way, this crew is introduced in Season 2. That’s it. But season 3 is really when they’re in the kitchen cooking.’” Ramirez said of his return, per Collider. “So, the idea that in Season 3, we get to cook with all of Craig’s ingredients is really exciting, because I think he deals with interpersonal conflict in such a unique way that group dynamics are fascinating with him.”
Ramirez is 32 years old and originally from Chicago, Illinois.
Kaitlyn Dever as Abby Anderson

Kaitlyn Dever’s acting credits include things like Bad Teacher (2011), Last Man Standing (2011 to 2021), The Spectacular Now (2013), Justified (2011 to 2015), Booksmart (2019), Unbelievable (2019) and Dear Evan Hansen (2021). She plays Ellie’s nemesis Abby Anderson in The Last of Us and is expected to reprise the role for Season 3.
“I wanted a lot of the broken parts of Abby to show through in her eyes. I wanted to humanize her as much as I possibly could,” Dever told Elle of her character in May. “It’s easy to call Abby a villain because of how she presents herself in the world—her tough exterior. But [she’s also] this raw, broken, vulnerable person. It’s important to see that.”
Dever is 29 years old and originally from Phoenix, Arizona.
