While the gripping storylines in the debut season were enough to keep us coming back for more episode after episode, the cast that told these stories were just as critical, if not more. Here, see The Pitt Season 2 cast returning to screens this winter. Whose return are you most excited for?

Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch

Noah Wyle expertly took the lead on this series in Season 1, so it’s no surprise that he’ll be back in action as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the second season. The actor, who before The Pitt was known for his work on ER and films such as A Few Good Men (1992), faces an emotional season ahead as his character continues to grapple with the stress of the job and his own personal trauma and PTSD in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of his mentor. Just recently, he took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance on The Pitt.

Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon

Patrick Ball makes his return as Dr. Langdon in Season 2, returning to The Pitt after 10 months spent in rehab for drug addiction, and fans of the show are anxious to see how his character has changed since the last season and all that he’s been through.

“He’s been on quite a journey,” Ball told Give Me My Remote. “He’s been away from the hospital for 10 months. Away from the setting where he feels most useful and most himself; away from his friends and his work family. He’s been in rehab. He’s done a lot of soul searching. So as far as what that looks like, you’ll have to see.”

Outside of The Pitt, the actor has made an appearance on Law & Order.

Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans

Katherine LaNasa, known for her roles in shows like Imposters and Truth Be Told, stunned viewers with her portrayal of Dana Evans, so much so that she also earned herself an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at this year’s awards show. LaNasa is also set to make her return in Season 2, and she’s already given a glimpse of how bloody this next installment is set to be.

“There was something I did already [for Season 2] and I told the producer that I think I needed some jewelry for it. Like he needed to give me some diamonds,” LaNasa told Variety. “You’ll see. It’s in Episode 2. It’s disgusting.”

Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan

Supriya Ganesh portrayed third-year resident Dr. Mohan, and before making it big on this series, she appeared in shows like Blue Bloods, New Amsterdam and Grown-ish, to name a few. Making her return in Season 2 of The Pitt, the actress has high hopes for her character and wishes that her personal life might be fleshed out a bit more.

“I think they explored how lonely she was in Season 1,” she told Variety. “Does she socialize a little bit more? Is there something going on with her mom? Does she reach back out to her after this, or does she not? I think looking a little bit more into what her life outside the hospital looks like to the extent that they can, I think, would be so wonderful.”

Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay

Fiona Dourif has, in the past, appeared in series like Blacklist and Dirk Gentley’s Holistic Detective Agency, but after her Season 1 debut as Dr. McKay, she’s set to make her return in the second season of The Pitt after an interesting backstory laid out for her made viewers want to know more and see where her story goes.

Taylor Dearden as Dr. King

Taylor Dearden, the daughter of actor Bryan Cranston, was building her resume before The Pitt with roles in 101 Ways to Get Rejected, Sweet/Vicious and more, but now, she’s back for a second season in her role as the empathetic Dr. King. “She’s an R3 now, a more senior doctor,” Dearden said of what’s in store in Season 2 in conversation with The Playlist. “I assume she takes on much more responsibility, having people come to her to clear things up and step into a leadership position.”

Isa Briones as Dr. Santos

Isa Briones played Dr. Santos, an intern at The Pitt who had a lot to learn and required a few mistakes to realize that. Set to return in Season 2, fans are looking forward to seeing how she’s grown in the last 10 months. Before the series, you may have caught her in Goosebumps or Star Trek: Picard.

Gerran Howell as Whitaker

Another character early in his career with much to learn, viewers felt for Whitaker, a medical student, when it was revealed that he was homeless and living at the hospital due to the lack of compensation he earned from his position. Set to make a return in Season 2, you might recognize Howell from shows like Young Dracula, Out There or Ludwig.

Shabana Azeez as Javadi

Javadi, a medical student and the daughter of two doctors, had a lot to prove with the amount of pressure and high expectations put on her, and in Season 2, many hope to see her find her footing even more outside of the shadow of her family. Before The Pitt, she acted in shows such as Nautilus and In Limbo
