August 5 has lovingly been dubbed Ted Lasso Day by fans in celebration of Season 4’s long-awaited arrival. Today, the first episode of the season arrived on Apple TV, and in total, Season 4 will consist of 10 episodes. Every Wednesday between now and October 7, a new episode will drop. In the fourth season, Ted tackles a new gig, leading a second division women’s soccer team. His unconventional yet effective methods are certain to leave their mark on this league of ladies, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the remainder of the season.
Hannah Waddingham chatted with USA Today about the lesson to be learned from Season 4. “I think it’s not before time that women’s sports in general are focused upon. We need to fill those stadiums. We need to get kids—mostly young boys—to accept that a girl will kick around a ball with you or a girl will throw a hoop with you. That’s so important. And if this show is teaching us anything, it’s to all be equal. No one’s more important than anyone else.”
Jason Sudeikis similarly opened up to Deadline about what’s to come in Season 4, sharing, “Coaching women for the first time in his life…arguably, he has a complicated relationship with women. He’s certainly not practiced in mentoring and coaching. It’s similar to being a fairly new father of a young girl; you don’t necessarily know what to do, what you can do, what you’re allowed, what’s appropriate.” The actor continued, “Because I was once a boy and I’ve, at this point in this journey, not been a girl, I’m guessing a lot of times. Girls are very good at making you wonder while you’re guessing, which I appreciate at this point in my life. I think Ted, for a guy who lives in the questions, is getting answers from areas he never expected.”
