The world of When Calls the Heart has been expanding and evolving ever since it premiered back in 2014, and since it debuted, fans have been lucky to dive into its spinoff, When Hope Calls, and its newest prequel, Hope Valley: 1874. When Hope Calls was the first offshoot of the original series, but if you’re a Hallmark fan wondering what happened after the first season, you might not have realized that the hit show was picked up for its second season by Great American Family. What is ‘When Hope Calls’ about?
The When Hope Calls story began by introducing Lillian and Grace, two sisters separated as children who reunite and open an orphanage together in the quaint town of Brookfield. Taking place in 1916, these characters and their story was first introduced in When Calls the Heart and has since blossomed into a saga of community, friendship and hope—and even includes a little bit of that Hallmark and GAF romance we love. In the second season, Lillian and Grace say goodbye to the town they called home, but life in Brookfield continues to be full of change and excitement in their absence with the arrival of a lawyer, Nora, played by Cindy Busby.
What will ‘When Hope Calls’ Season 3 be about?
A newly released trailer indicated an installment full of heart and hope, as new faces will be introduced as folks make Brookfield home, as well as familiar favorites returning to screen. Cindy Busby opened up about Season 3 in conversation with People, sharing, “At the end of Season 2, Nora was left hanging that her old boss was potentially bribing a judge, and she may be involved. And of course, this is 1920, a woman who’s working in law. So already that’s a miracle. Let alone, now she might be in trouble with the law herself.” She continued, “Her love interest, Mountie Michael Fletcher, is protecting the law. So she finds herself in a little bit of a pickle of, how am I going to move forward knowing this information without it compromising the future of my potential relationship with Mountie Fletcher?”
