Fast food fanatics and french fry enthusiasts, rejoice! McDonald’s is tapping into nostalgia with its all-new adult Happy Meal that takes customers to the fantasy world of McDonaldland. Characters like Grimace, the Hamburglar and Ronald McDonald have had their moment in the spotlight over the last few years, but have you ever stopped and thought about where these characters come from? Enter McDonaldland. The media franchise and fictional world laid the foundation for the new McDonaldland Meal, which rolls out on August 12. Here, everything to know about this delicious new campaign.
What is McDonald’s McDonaldland Meal?
The McDonaldland Meal includes familiar favorites, as well as new and innovative treats you’re going to want to get your hands on. Each meal includes an order of their iconic, salty, crispy, fresh french fries, your choice of an order of their 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or their Quarter Pounder with Cheese and a Mt. McDonaldland Shake. While the flavor of this shake has yet to be revealed, this confectionary concoction stands out for the shake’s blue hue and pink whipped cream, “inspired by the vibrant blue ‘lava’ and pink clouds of Mt. McDonaldland,” explained a press release. But that’s not all! Each meal includes a collectible souvenir that pays homage to one of the characters of McDonaldland. These souvenirs come in the form of a themed tin that includes goodies like stickers, postcards and more!
“Over the past few years we’ve seen how fans flock to our characters, everyone from Grimace to the Hamburglar. But many, especially the new generation, don’t know that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s an entire magical world of McDonaldland filled with characters, places and lore,” said Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP of US Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture. “And so, for the first time in decades we are taking fans on a trip to McDonaldland with an immersive experience that taps into the past to create the future. It’s a chance for us to give fans a new, modern way to experience this magical world.”
McDonaldland was first introduced back in 1971, and since then, the fictional friends that have inhabited it have become an important piece of the McDonaldland legacy. Tap into the nostalgia in the coming weeks and enjoy all that’s in store.
McDonald’s x Pacsun and Away collabs
Though this adult Happy Meal has us already counting down the days until August 12, when we can get our hands on it and feel like a kid again, the McDonaldland fun doesn’t end there. McDonald’s is teaming up with California-cool retailer Pacsun for an exciting clothing collaboration so fans can represent their favorite fast food chain while out and about.
