What to do if you own a recalled ice cream or fro-yo product

This recall was categorized by the FDA as Class II, which the organization defines as “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Still, if you have a recalled product, the best way to reduce health and safety risk is to not consume it, dispose of or return it to your original point of purchase.

Fragments of plastic can be dangerous because depending on the size and shape of the plastic, which could be hard and sharp, it may cause choking or lead to injury of the esophagus or stomach or intestines, cautions Mia Kazanjian MD, Stanford-trained radiologist. This can include inflammation, laceration or less likely perforation.
