Smoky Southwestern Chili

With a hint of sugar, the tomatoes shine bright in this hearty Smoky Southwestern Chili. It would also be perfect atop nachos.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbs. chili powder
  • 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz.) can corn, drained
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. In large skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef and onions until beef is browned, stirring often; drain. In 3½ −4-qt. slow cooker, combine all ingredients.
  2. Cover; cook on low 5−6 hrs. until mixture is thick and flavorful.
