Walk into any Home Depot store, and you’ll see their huge orange buckets, which thousands of customers use for a number of household projects like growing vegetables, mixing concrete, creating compost, organizing tools and storing pet food, birdseed or soil. And while we aren’t going to argue that these buckets are iconic, we predict their new mini version of the bucket may become even more popular! Below, we share what you need to know about the now viral mini Home Depot bucket, plus share creative uses for it.
What to know about the viral mini Home Depot bucket
The viral mini Home Depot bucket is actually a Christmas ornament that’s a smaller version of their famous orange bucket. It’s $.98 in stores, according to customers, and 3.75 inches tall, made out of plastic, has a metal handle and The Home Depot logo in white on the front.
“It’s so d-mn cute,” one customer said. “And it’s only $.98!”
If you want to purchase one of the buckets, you better act fast because some employees posted in a Home Depot Reddit group to let customers know that they’re selling out quickly.
“We got five boxes, they sold out in less than a week. Got three more boxes, will see if anything is left when I go back tomorrow,” one employee wrote.
Another one said that the buckets were “flying off the shelves today. At least one customer literally running through the store to grab another one.”
And they aren’t the only ones noticing the shortage. Heaven, a highly popular special media dog, shared with her followers that while she did get one, it took a bit of time and some help from a puppy-loving employee.
“Today we got the best present from one of our Home Depot friends—our own @homedepot mini bucket,” the instagram post read. “She heard we were looking for them and our store doesn’t have them yet, but she found us one! What a pawfect surprise—we LOVE it!! Come on momma, I’ll take you around the store and I’ll buy you anything you can fit in my bucket!”
What to do with your mini Home Depot bucket
Sure you can hang your mini bucket on your tree, as intended, but you can do a lot more with it!
One Home Depot employee said, “They make fantastic paint brush holders and paint water cups.”
The Home Depot official merchandise page even weighed in on what to do with them, writing on their website that the “Custom mini bucket keeps your desk organized by holding pens, scissors, markers and anything else you need to ace the day.”
They also shared a picture of the bucket being used as a vase for a mini potted plant, which we have to say might just be our favorite use yet.
