‘I Need That Bear Cup!’ Starbucks App Bear Cup Relaunch Sparks Chaos—Will It Drop?

The coveted cup is back—how to grab this hot holiday collectible before it’s gone!

If you missed the chance to stop by Starbucks last month and pick up one of their highly coveted Bearista cups, we have some good news for you! The beloved coffee chain is relaunching the product on its app today—just in time for the holidays. To learn how exactly you can cash in on this day-only deal, keep scrolling!

What to know about the Starbucks bear cup in-app deal

On Sunday, December 7, Starbucks announced via social media that its bear cups were coming back on Monday, December 8. The coffee chain said the deal would only be available in its app, but as of publication, Starbucks hasn’t shared what time they will drop, if it will still cost $30, whether customers will be able to have the cup shipped to them or or if there will be any sort of giveaways associated with the drop.

“It’s December 8 now and there is nothing different on my app! No game, no opportunity to purchase the barista cup!” One hopeful customer wrote on social media.

The lack of bear cups hasn’t stopped customers from refreshing the app every chance they get, though, which many people claimed caused several in-app outages.

“Disappointing that I would just like to use the app to order coffee and don’t even want the cup but can’t even add my gift card because of this crashing the app. Not a fun way to start my Monday,” one customer wrote on social media.

Even so, with or without any news on when the cup will actually launch on the app, customers remain hopeful, commenting things like “I need that bear cup” on Starbucks’ initial Instagram announcement.

A look back at the last bear cup sale

The last time Starbucks released its bear cup for sale—on November 6, 2025—it sold out almost instantly. Customers say this was because each store received only a very limited supply of cups.

“I got up at 4 am and drove to a location that specifically said it would have this cup. I was first in line, they didn’t have it. I drove to four more locations, none of them had it and said they never did,” one customer wrote. “If you are going to excite people over this, then make sure ALL stores have supply. So many people are disappointed.”

Starbucks then issued an apology to customers, saying, “The excitement for our merchandise exceeded even our biggest expectations and despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some other items sold out fast.”

“We understand many customers were excited about the Bearista cup and apologize for the disappointment this may have caused,” the coffee company concluded.

The Starbucks bear cup is a 20-ounce glass cup designed for cold drinks and originally sold for $29.95. After selling out quickly, some resellers listed it online for as much as $300. If that’s out of your price range, you can find similar dupes on Amazon or at Walmart.

There is also the chance that customers could get one or more when it finally launches on the Starbucks app, hopefully later today.

Happy scrolling, refreshing—and hopefully sipping and shopping!
