We were shocked when we first heard that scientists have discovered a strong link between cancer risk and your height? We never would have guessed! While we've heard about the connection between body weight and cancer risk, the height element surprised us.
But it's true: Research has found that taller women are at greater risk for developing several types of cancers. The World Cancer Research Fund International analyzed a number of global studies and found plenty of evidence to support the notion that the taller you are, the more at risk you are of developing ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, colorectal, pre and post-menopausal breast, and kidney cancer. The information seems shocking--and pretty unfair, right?--but important to know, especially if height runs in your family.
It's not the only shocking fact about cancer we discovered out there. For instance, do you know which type--of the nearly 200!--cancers is most common? Also, believe it or not, one of your breasts is more likely to have cancer than the other. Strange, but true!
