Nobody likes feeling ripped off, and when TikTok user @frenchiefrite took to the app to express her disappointment over her recent Girl Scout cookie purchase, the viral circulation of the video and the comments in agreement proved that she certainly was not alone. In the post shared back in February, the user begins by explaining, “There is no way that this,” she said holding up a plastic sleeve of the chocolate-covered minty biscuits, “is the same amount of Thin Mints that you used to get when I was a Girl Scout as a child.”

Isabella, the user behind this viral video, went on to explain that not only had the quantity decreased, but the prices have hiked quite a bit since her youth. “I used to sell a box of Thin Mints for $3.50, two sleeves. Now, two sleeves for $6, and this is all you get. This is so short,” she said referring to the size of the sleeve. “I remember these things being way longer. Something is not adding up.”

And Isabela certainly isn’t the only one who has noticed this change! Many took to the comments of her video to express the same concerns, with many sharing that they had found their own “dupe” versions of the cookie at their local supermarket for a fraction of the price. “I opened my boxes of Thin Mints and Caramel deLites this year and had the same reaction!,” wrote one user. “About 10 years ago I had a box in my freezer I forgot about. Bought a box the next year. The new box was noticeably shorter. Wonder if it’s even shorter now,” commented another.

The best thin mint dupes to try now

Everyone loves a dupe, especially when it comes to products that feel expensive—and in their outrage over the Thin Mint packages being rolled out, many took to the comments of the TikTok to share some of their favorite off-brand versions of the beloved Girl Scout cookie. According to the video, Keebler Fudge Mint Delights is one product that delivers the same minty, chocolatey taste we love. Someone else shared that OREO’s Thin Mint Creme Chocolate Sandwich Cookie, though a different style of cookie, also gives off that same beloved flavor. Walmart’s Great Value Fudge Mint Cookies are also said to satisfy.
