Alex Drummond Gets Candid About How Being a Mom Has Changed Her Marriage: ‘More to Balance’

Alex Drummond and her husband, Mauricio Scott, are celebrating four years of marriage! Alex’s tribute to her husband and their life together was totally sweet, and included an adorable, funny nod to their baby girl Sofia. Alex reflects on four years married to Mauricio
Alex and Mauricio tied the knot at the Drummond family ranch in Oklahoma on May 1, 2021 (where her younger sister Paige will also exchange vows with fiancé David Andersen this summer!)
In honor of the milestone, Alex posted a heartfelt message to her hubby on Instagram along with some shots of their special day.
“There’s so much I could say about this year….it’s been a big one with lots of change,” she wrote in the caption. “But I feel more confident than ever that I have the best person by my side to take on life with, holding hands and laughing through it all. Love you so much [Mauricio] let’s keep growing old together.”
“I love you so much Alex!,” Mauricio commented. “4 down, a lifetime to go!”
“Happy anniversary, you two!!!!,” chimed Alex’s mom and The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond. “Building a beautiful life together.”
How Sofia has changed Alex and Mauricio’s relationship
The day before their anniversary, Alex hosted a Q&A on Instagram and a follower asked how her marriage has evolved since she and Mauricio became parents in December 2024.
“I was actually just reflecting on this because our anniversary is tomorrow!” Alex responded. “There’s no denying that it’s a massive change… so much more to balance and it’s way harder to make time for each other. But it’s still the same marriage at the core, he’s still the same guy I married 4 yrs ago and we still laugh through allllll the ups and downs and have so much fun together! We’ve definitely had to figure out our new normal and also how to balance responsibilities, and have had to really work on our communication!”
Alex went on to share one of the couple’s top priorities for their relationship in the near future: making more time for date nights. She also expressed her excitement to see how their life continues to progress as they continue to settle into their new rhythm.
And they’re already doing just that! Alex added photos to her Instagram story Thursday night of herself and Mauricio clinking their drink glasses during a “parents’ night out” at Catch Dallas, where they enjoyed sushi and a delectable-looking wheel of donut holes.
The two then snapped a selfie outside of the restaurant on their way home “while it’s still light outside,” Alex captioned the sweet photo with a laughing emoji.
Alex wishes Sofia had been a wedding guest
While looking back at their wedding day on their anniversary Thursday, Alex revealed that she often tells Mauricio wishes Sofia could have been present for the special day!
So, she playfully edited two of their wedding photos to include Sofia—one of the baby girl smiling alongside her parents sharing a kiss, and another looking cool in flower sunglasses as Alex and Mauricio stepped onto the dance floor!
“Let’s just pretend,” she captioned her edits.
