Ree Drummond’s family is enjoying a whole host of celebrations! There was the arrival of Sofia—the first Drummond grandbaby—in late December, both Ree and her husband Ladd’s birthdays in January, followed by Sofia’s first visit to the Drummond ranch. Most recently, Ree’s son-in-law Mauricio Scott marked another trip around the sun! Read his wife Alex’s birthday wish for Mauricio and see sweet shots of him with their baby girl.

Alex Drummond Scott wishes husband Mauricio a happy birthday

On February 20, new mom Alex Drummond Scott gave her followers a glimpse at Mauricio’s birthday celebration, complete with a banner, gifts and donuts with candles on Instagram

“Happy birthday to the rock of our little fam,” Alex wrote with a heart in the caption of the first photo of Mauricio smiling while holding Sofia, who gazed up at her proud papa.

“We [love] you so much,” she gushed on the next slide which showed her hubby kissing Sofia on the cheek.

As always, the family’s fluffy golden retriever, George (who they consider their first-born), was in the middle of all of the action. Alex shared adorable videos of the pup making a toy out of Mauricio’s green birthday balloon, carrying it around the house in his mouth—that is until it popped. Alex joked that George would likely be searching for the balloon “for the next 5-10 business days.”

Mauricio is a part of the Drummond family

Alex and Mauricio have been married since 2021, and Alex has shared that they were friends for a year before they even began dating. The couple lives in Dallas, Texas, with Sofia and George.

In 2022, the Food Network host wished Mauricio a happy 25th birthday in a touching Instagram post complete with a photo gallery that showed off his personality.

“I hope these ten photos give you a little glimpse into the incredible fella I get to call my son-in-law,” Ree captioned the post. “He’s full of love and full of life, and that’s a pretty wonderful combination. Happy birthday, Mauricio!! We [love] you!”

The same year, Alex shared her own tribute to her husband, expressing her gratitude for him (but also reminding him that he was officially halfway to 50), and Ree chimed in in the comments calling Mauricio “the best son-in-law in the world!”

When Ree shared Alex and Mauricio’s pregnancy photoshoot in 2024, she explained that the couple chose to take the pictures on the family ranch in Oklahoma not only because Alex was raised there, but also because they spent much of their time there at the start of their relationship.

“Alex and Mauricio may live in Dallas, but part of their hearts will always be on the ranch,” she wrote. “Alex grew up here, of course, and Mauricio spent so much time here during their engagement and early marriage while the kids were filming my Food Network show.”

Ree has made it clear over the years that she views Mauricio as another son and appreciates how he cares for Alex and Sofia. She even gave him a special shoutout in a post on The Pioneer Woman blog after Sofia was born.

“Alex did great, and so did Mauricio,” she wrote. “We arrived in Dallas and got to see them in the hospital just as Alex was transitioning from latent to active labor, and it was so wonderful to see how much they love and support each other. Mauricio attended to Alex’s every need, to the point that the rest of us questioned if we even needed to be there. What a gift to Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates his love through such clear action.”

“Thank you, God, for Alex and Mauricio, and for my beautiful granddaughter Sofia Marie Scott!,” she concluded.
