With the recent release of the trailer for TLC’s hit reality series 1000-lb. Sisters, viewers have gotten a glimpse at what’s to come for Amy Slaton, Tammy Slaton and the rest of their crew as they navigate this next chapter. In the upcoming season, fans are promised an up-close look at Amy’s spooky wedding to her now-husband Brian Lovvorn, the ceremony having occurred this past Halloween. Their whirlwind romance comes after a chance meeting, a swift love story and even a bit of scandal, but Amy shared with People that “Getting married means that I’m no longer lonely because I’ve discovered my soulmate, Brian, is my happy place!” Here, read all about Amy Slaton and her marriage to Brian Lovvorn.

How did Amy Slaton meet her husband?

On an episode of the show, Amy opened up about how she and Brian first connected, sharing that they met at a concert. “We were in the mosh pit and we were talking and singing and stuff, and we went to go get street tacos. And we haven’t been apart since.” Their rapidly-moving romance resulted in their unconventional engagement a few months later, and earlier this year, they made it official. “Originally, he slipped a green apple Ring Pop on my finger while I was asleep, about two weeks into our relationship,” Slaton told People. “I was shocked at first, and I said yes but only if the real proposal was in a haunted house on Halloween.” Though not on Halloween, Brian got down on one knee while the couple attended Henderson Haunts’ haunted house in Henderson, Kentucky.

Does Amy Slaton have kids?

Amy has two children, Gage and Glenn, from her previous marriage to Michael Halterman. Amy and Michael were high school sweethearts and their relationship was on display in the early season of the show, but the couple went their separate ways in 2023, their split showcased on the reality series. Since getting together with Brian, she’s shared with People that her two boys “took to him naturally, he just fit perfectly in our family.” Unfortunately, their time with one another hasn’t been without a bit of scandal.

In September of 2024, Amy, Brian and Amy’s two sons were visiting the Tennessee Safari Park, feeding animals, when Amy was bit by a camel. When they called the authorities to address the animal bite, odors from their vehicle led the police to discover marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms, ultimately leading to their arrest. With Amy’s two children in the car, she was initially charged with drug possession and child endangerment before accepting a plea deal, pleading guilty to two counts of drug possession, while the child endangerment charges were dismissed.

Amy Slaton and Brian Lovvorn tie the knot

Despite the ups and downs of their relationship, Brian and Amy have been going strong since their Halloween nuptials, and in the upcoming season of 1000-lb Sisters, premiering on January 6, viewers can get an up close look at the wedding planning process leading up to their big day.
